Animal Pals

I made this card to enter into the State Fair Rubber Stamping Category Non Occasion. I think it came out brilliantly. I used the faux batik technique with the Tropical Blossoms for the background and then used my Rubber Soul stamps for the main images. I used old olive and taken with teal for sponging the background and the animals. The button is from FooFaLa.

Fun, fun, fun...

I finally finished a lo! Aren't you so very proud of me. I've had this pic of my kiddos for awhile and it's not often that I get one of all three of them together...looking at the camera...not crying. Well, Tessa looks pretty silly but other than that it's pretty darn good.

My base is a piece of 12x12 craft paper. I then added a piece of MME Bohemia. I used my Warm Red chalk ink to"paint" my chip circle. I stamped some flowers from my Technique Tuesday Kabloom set on top of it in whisper white craft ink. It turned pink, darn. Lastly, I added the letter "f" letter sticker from American Crafts to finish it. The U and N are from the same sticker sheet. I pulled out my Target ribbon again and added to snips of it. I printed out my journaling strips and then used my chalk ink to distress them.. Heading to the home stretch. I placed the Petaloo flower (that I bought a year ago at CKC) over the corner of the photo. It just needed one more thing so I pulled out my Technique Tuesday stamps again and found this little lady bug from their Boho Buzz set. I stamped it in Warm Red and added the head piece in Timber Brown Staz On. Thanks for looking. Have a great day.

Rainbow Fish

A little card I made for an upcoming birthday. I personally think it could go for a boy or a girl. This is the fish from the Fishy Friends set. Ribbon from Target $1 bins. Brads from Joann's. I used my prismas and OT to color in the image after I stamped it with Timber Brown Staz On. The bg is stamped with white craft ink and the Cheesecloth bg stamp.

Thanks for all your sweet comments. Have a great day.

Out of Town

Sorry, I've been out of town for that last four days and didn't have access to a computer. I went to visit my mom. She was all prepared to go to the Temple for the very first time and I wouldn't have missed that for anything in the world. We went to the Snowflake Temple. So beautiful. It was such a special opportunity for me and my mom. So, I'm back now and trying to get caught up on everything. Here's a sweet pic of my kiddos I took on my oldest's first day of school. This picture cracks me up. Tessa thinks she's going and Aaron's got a handful of grapes. Silly.

Have a great day.

Thanks! I am feeling better.

The farther I get away from that night the better I feel. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to Erica who created this lo for us at our last get together. I finally got some pictures on it and I'm still debating on adding more pics, journaling, or nothing to the open purple spaces.
I might get something wrong in the details so I'm sorry in advance.
We used River Rock for the base. Purely Pomegranate for the title and mat on the smaller pic. We also used the double vanilla technique on the gray cs. We used the Priceless stamp set. The title is made from the Letterpress Alpha. The majorly cool thing we did which you can't really see here is that we used silver ink on the chip flower, let it dry, then stamped in versamark and added silver embossing powder to it. I'll try to get a better detail pick of that later.
This is my sweet daughter, Tessa.

Forgiveness

Feeling a little down today. I don't think I'll share the details as they're so horrible most of you would think I was talking about a soap opera and not MY life. Although I will say that what has come to light has nothing to do with my life right now, rather my life ten years ago. So with that said here's the card.
I cut the "branch" out of some shimmery brown/gray paper I had and then drew some twigs coming off of it. I believe I used one of my spectrum pads for the leaves and there you have it...a solemn depiction of the way I feel today. A little barren.
Have a great day.

Terrible Two and Happy Birthday to You!

Who's in trouble for eating mommy's chocolate? Little sneak. Hands, face, arms were covered in it! As soon as I looked at him he knew he was in trouble and on came the water works. Man, I need to find a better hiding place.
On to a card...
A boy's birthday card with a file folder twist! Super simple. Write their upcoming age on the tab!

Have a great day.

Card for a MIL

My friend Nicole asked me to make a card for her mother in law. I wanted it to be elegant and simple. I stamped the swirls with Cameo Coral which I thought went well with the paper. I used Chocolate Chip as well as Cranberry Crisp to sponge on the edges. A paper studio silk flower with a paper studio pearl brad. I made the tag by punching the one end with my ticket corner punch. I used my Winifred St. clear stamps. Finally, I made this a book mark card by perforating along the edge with my cutter bee perforator. Have a great day.

I've been gone way too long

Sorry, but this weekend we had a bunch of church meetings and I've been driving into town a lot.
I also have been obsessed with rereading the Twilight series. I've been thinking that I might be a Twilight Junkie. Like you might be a Twilight Junkie if while listening to the radio you pick out references to Edward and Bella in almost every song. Or you just try to pick out a song that's their song... like Aerosmith's "I don't want to miss a thing". Or you give way too much thought to who could possibly play the part of Edward or Bella in a movie not to mention all the other characters. Like you might be a Twilight junkie if while making breakfast for your kids your hearts automatically starts to beat faster at the remembrance that Edward left Bella (not that you haven't already read that book three times and you already KNOW that!)
I know this is crazy and that these books are for YA's but they really do capture your attention and pull you in. I think I'll be respectable when I read Stephanie Meyer's new book HOST next May that's for adults. Sheesh.
FYI on the lyrics for those of you who've ready the books. Don't they fit well?
I Don't Want To Miss A Thing lyrics
I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time
Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
'Cause I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss a thing

Gobble Gobble

Isn't this a simply cute and easy idea? You just fold a flower over for turkey feathers. I put this together super quick and cut out all the shapes free hand. I think maybe a googlie eye is order here. What d'ya think? Have a great day. Probably pop up the body too. Make the beak smaller. Still cute though.

My Mama

A lo I did about my mom. She raised my brother and I all by herself and I am astonished by that fact each and every day I wrestle with raising my three little "angels".
I used CTMH's Adorable set that includes the paisley and single flower. I think the other "set" of flowers is from the happy everything set. I stamped the larger paisleys in a chocolate brown and the smaller paisleys in a baby bink. The flowers are in more of a bright pink. The cs stickers and pp are from CTMH as well. I cuttlebugged a border for my pic and made faux ribbon with the Adorable set. Enjoy.
Have a great day.

It's Raining Babies

A lot of my friends are having babies soon and I'm making shower invitations for one of them. She's really not a pastel pink kinda gal, even with three daughters (1 to be) she is more of a red or purple lover. I wanted to make a card that suited her more so this is what happened. I had this paper from a DCWV stack I think and used my cuttlebug to emboss it. I tied a white ribbon around the card front. I stamped the baby feet in Regal Rose and then sponged on some Creamy Caramel, and Chocolate Chip around the edges. I popped that up with some foam and whalahh! I think it came out cute and sophisticated all at the same time. Hope she likes it. I also wanted to keep it simple because I have to make 20 of them. I'm still thinking of adding a tag looped around the big ribbon that says "baby girl" on it. What'dya think?

Have a great day.

Could they be brothers?

Scroll down for the chance to win blog candy. Other wise read my ramblings.

I was browsing through my usual blogs and I came upon a picture that looked so familiar I couldn't believe it! Check out Heather Steven's blog and look at her super cute little boy. I don't really have that many older pics of Aaron still on my computer. I've burned them to disk but the resemblance is striking. They call it a doppleganger don't they. Have a wonderful evening.

Octupus Smiles

I made this card for Beates Weekend Sketch Challenge #13 It's a fun, different fold for a card.

I didn't tie ribbon over the edge as Beate did I sewed some on the bottom of the front flap. I loved using these bright colors. I used my blender pen and marvelous magenta to color in the Mr. Octupus and then cool caribbean around him. I also used my new sentiments from Verve Visual. Head on over to Julee's blog to check out a sneak peek of her new stamp set coming out at the end of this month, it's stunning. This is my first time using fishy friends and I really like it. Have a great day.

The Eclipse in on it's Way!

I can NOT tell you how excited I was to see that my copies of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse have been shipped. They left Kansas on Friday. I think it might be too much to hope for that they'll arrive by Monday, but I can't help it. Some people have already gotten (oops) advanced copies, so jealous. I can't wait to get my greedy little hands on that book! You better believe I'll be tracking that sucker all the way to my house, gotta love the internet. Just thought I'd share my obession.

So proud of myself

I can't believe I finished three pages last night. The pics are all from our trip to CA this past June. I wanted them all to have the same basic concept and I did want to use the same papers on all of them. But when it came down to it Tessa's pic really didn't go with the bright surfboard paper! I still need to journal a bit on all of them but I like to take my time with that and get the right words down on paper. I really hate rushing my journaling because then I go back and think, "why did I write that"?
For "Surfer and Dude" I used a alpha set called serendipity from Technique Tuesday. I cuttlebugged the surfboard paper on the Surfer lo to give it more texture. I used the SU whimsical lower for "Beach Baby". I also used another TT set for the dots. I used SU Doodle This with white craft ink on Tessa's lo. I used petaloo flowers and buttons as well. I inked around the journaling block with cool carribean to bring in the blue. Have a great day! Misty

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday: I saw this concept on another blog, forgive me but I can't remember where. Posting something you've done ages ago.

I made this card for the husband of a woman I go to church with for Father's Day. What a nut I was. I used a sun punch folded in half for the fire, grass punch from EK rolled up brown cardstock for the logs and blue cs for the sleeping bag tied up with twine. My favorite part were the paw prints I stamped going into the tent. I used a marbelized paint chip for the moon. and another punch for the stars. I wish I had used double sided paper for the tent flap. Oh well. What a load of detail went into this card. I'll be scrappin' tonight! Have a great day.

Silver Charm Butterfly

I made this card because I've had these charms for ages. I just dug into my scraps and came out with this aqua blue patterned paperby SEI I think. I've had these little foam popped up dots from Joann's for a while and I tend to keep myself from using too many of them because they're so cute but I just couldn't resist on this card. I've also had this acrylic frame for some time. So it's use products you've had for too long day!!!! I also used my slit punch to create the scalloped border and my ZIG marker to make the dots around the butterfly.
It's our monthly Stampin' Up meeting tonight and I'm going to order all the new in colors!!! Probably some craft paper and maybe booglie eyes.
Take care.
