Sweater/Shirt turned Owl Pillow

I loved my NY & Co, burnt orange sweater but the neckline was unraveling...what to do.

Grab the scissors and cut out an owl shape.

I love my embroidered shirt but a few holes have cropped up in the front of it...I think from my belt :(

Layer

Cut out some more flowers for the eyes.

Cut out some binding from another shirt for the beak.

Sew it all together.

Taaa Daaa. A cute, fluffy owl for Tessa's birthday. COST $0.00. Time: Less than an hour. Have a great day!

I dream of Coral & Pearls

As a child/growing up I loved and adored the color peach. I painted the wall in my room in a peach checker board in high school. Hope the landlord painted over it okay :). As I've matured, notice I didn't say "gotten older" I have come to love peache's more refined cousin...CORAL. I just want to wear it all the time. It's a yummy dream. So I sat down the other night and got to work making this necklace. She's a beauty, no? I made a set of matching earrings and a bracelet too. Pics later. Take care and have a great day.

Three Nanny Goats Gruff Play

These kindergarteners did so great! I was so proud of how expressive and wonderfully they sang. Aaron was a flower...he did not WANT to be a flower. Awww.
Gray played the part of the Troll
Clara's Aunt made ALL of the costumes for ALL 22 kiddos. Amazing.
There they are singing their hearts out.

The Highschool Friendship Quilt

Here we are. Natalie got this grand idea for us to make a frienship quilt...all of us who are still in touch that is. That means we'll have 10 squares and probably have to put in two plain ones somewhere to make a nice lap or hanging quilt. I am not a person who sews...much. Why did I agree to this craziness. We're supposed to make a square that represents us in some fashion. Shalini loves black and white and she's going to use pieces of her lab coat and it's buttons for her square.
Funniest thing while we were there...Nat has three daugters and a little baby boy. LOTS of GIRL TOYS. Jonah was able to find a Ken doll and a barbie car in all of that! I think it's amazing how boys are JUST BOYS! They gravitate towards things they feel are manly.
Lanette and Natalie working out Netty's square.
Here's my idea for my square. A flower to represent each person in my family. Black and white for Trav, orange for me, denim for Jakob, green for Aaron, pink for Tessa, and aqua for Jonah. Applique all the way baby!

Beautiful After School Snacks

One of my VERY favorite things to do is to put together yummy afterschool snacks for the kiddos. I like the idea of using a muffin tin...the kids think it's so cool! Grapes, snap peas, carrots, bread sticks, strawberries, fresh mozarella cheese and a little dressing.

ENJOY! have a great day!

St. Patty's Day

This is for you Nicole...
I made the kiddos green scrambled eggs and green ham for breakfast. They also had green Greek yogurt with GOLD banana coins. Jonah was a little unsure at first but took a taste and finished it off.

I sure am lucky to have such a great family! Hope you all had lucky days as well.

Aaron's Friends

I just love that Riley is striking this pose while Aaron takes his picture (he's like, "Dude, I need to tuck my shirt in.)
Riley and Ben hamming it up for Aaron. I love pictures taken on kid level.
Mrs. White has a full class and I'm impressed with how well they all listen and how nicely they get along. She's an amazing teacher. (These pictures were taken by Aaron (with my snagged camera) while I was visiting with a Ben's mom at the dance studio where Tessa takes lessons).

A little bedside happiness.

Found this little Avon birdie at the thriftstore and had to pick him up. Actually everything on my bedside table is from the thriftstore except for the plate that I used to make the domed stand from. I bought it as a set of four salad plates from WM years ago. It used to be green until I spray painted it and added the candle holder to it's base to make it a stand.
