Party On Dudes

I had a bit of time to myself last night so I sat down and created this card using the Scrapbook Steals Monday Craft Madness theme to "USE METAL".

The heart charm is metal and I thought it fit in well with the colorful monsters from Paper Smooches.
Hope you're having a sweet day!

Thomas Jefferson Quoteables

This is so true for me.

I was commissioned by a friend of mine to make these signs for her. They are both Thomas Jefferson quotes. I love the second one so much. "No Society is as precious as one's own Family"
I delivered them to her and I think that she really liked them.
Christmas crafting complete!
Have a beautiful Christmas.

It has been plenty busy around this house with gift making and homework doing.

Have a super day!

Snow Day and Wood Ornaments

We got our first real snow of the season today. First a two hour delay and then SNOW DAY!
I can honestly say I was so glad to have my babies at home with me today.

Here's what we worked on a bit.

They're making ornaments for their teachers. I like the personal touch. I told my kids that this year was going to be a homemade holiday all the way.
May the peace of the Comforter be with you on this most tragic of days.

Book Page Christmas Tree

Apparently, my kids can't eat their cereal quick enough to keep up with mom's tree making habbit :)

Happy to announce that I finished my book page tree that I wanted to make.
The original ideas was to place the petals around the tree but when I started gluing them on I couldn't make it look right so I decided to ruffle the pages and just do a flower on the front.

I used some glittered pattern paper for the rosette and added a button to finish off the front.

I used my tombow mono multi glue to cover the petal tips with silver glitter and added a jingle bell as the tree topper. I love the way it came out.
Have a great day!!!

DIY Christmas Cone Trees Thrifty

Good morning crafty friends and family!
I must love Christmas decorations because I can't stop making them. Here's a few I've been working on lately.

First, I started with cones that I made from cereal boxes. All three of these were made out of one cereal box. :). That teeny tiny one is just for fun. Jonah says it's his.

Next pick your cone coverings. I used my friend, Jill's, tutorial for the pine cone tree which was so fun. I'm still debating on whether or not to paint it silver and add glitter to the tips.

Here's the grouping I have so far.

I am loving the contrast of the materials.

Thrifted lace: .50 cents for the whole bag. Still have some left. The little guy is made with jute.

Pine cone sharps ;). Gathered these from the church grounds.

Burlap ribbon from WM $1.97 used the whole roll.
I think I'm going to paint that old curtain rod cap white though...maybe glitter.

Thrifted faux satin ribbon. $1.50 for a HUGE roll.
Still have a ton left.

NEXT UP A BOOK PAGE TREE!!!!

Total project cost about $4.00 including the glue sticks.

Hope your weekend is going great. I have to go write down my talk for church tomorrow. A little worried this time around. Then we need to work on the fence, make potatoes for the ward Christmas party and then attend the wonderful Christmas party tonight.
Take care and craft on.

Yup, good ole' honesty...

My son brought this home with yesterday's homework. Pretty much sums up my life right now...I have needed a lot of do-overs. I am trying to do everything right...but sometimes that task seems insurmountable. I love this time of year, reflecting on the birth of our Lord and Savior is one of the best things about it. Feeling the joy of giving is great too...but add in orthodontist appointments and sick kids and homework do overs and you've got a little frazzled mama...who has no time to make cards, forgot to pick up her Christmas pics from Costco while she was in town (for the THIRD time) and who doesn't know what the heck to get her husband for Christmas.
Hahaha. Had to share.
Have a great day!

Polar Bear Christmas Image

Working on this image for my Christmas cards this morning. Now that I know the power of the Silhouette print and cut. I think I can make some handmade cards for the holidays!!!!
I get to go have lunch with a sweet friend today and then to Victoria Secrets to use my $10 off card for some lotion!!!
Hope your day is coming along nicely.
Stay crafty.

This Year's Crop of Snowflakes

Unfortunately daddy was out of town last night, but I left him a few folded sheets so he can add to the collection. Seeing these in a grouping just makes me so happy. They're all so beautiful and so unique.

Jakob made the snowflake on the far left too. It's diconnected at a bunch of the ends. I'll have to figure out how to fix it...maybe some washi tape ;).
Hope you're having a super duper day.
These are Travis' additions. I love the heart petaled one.

Paper Fire Snowflakes and an Upcylcled Noel

Been so busy decorating around here and moving my mom into her new place that I haven't had any time to get my scrap on. I have, however, gotten my craft on ;).
Every year our whole family makes paper snowflakes for family home evening and I save them (flat in a box with the ties still on) so that I can hang them around the house.

My kids told me their favorite is "daddy's fire snowflake". I have to say, it's pretty darn cool.
The amaryllis is blooming! (Thanks Mom)

I saw this "Noel" on Pinterest and I tried my hand at my own version. I still might change up the E but I really like my scrap wood NOEL. I found the wreath at the thrift store for .50 cents. It had some purple berried bunches along with what's on there now. I took those off and gave the whole wreath a dusting of Heirloom White spray paint. Then I went back in and added some silver glitter. The "E" was done using a mask and the same spray paint. I kind of want it chunkier.
And with my quail bookends.

Finished decorating the tree last night. The kids were so happy and each day that passes
Jonah asks, "Did Santa came yet?"
Hope your beautiful holiday is shaping up to be something special for your family.
