Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Plaid Dress

While out thrifting at our local Salvation Army this blue plaid number caught my eye. At first I thought it was a little busy. Then, I said, "The heck with it!", and tried it on. I really liked the way it fit and for a dollar you just can't go wrong ;).

At first I thought I'd pair it with a red belt but I just don't seem to have one that works. This wide navy one did the trick. Normally, I am a person that likes my belt and shoes to go together or at least my necklace and my shoes but I think this is one dress that can pull off the different colors :).

I added a vintage red plastic bead necklace to finish it of and ended up wearing my black bow pumps.

Now if I could just do something with this hair.
Hope you have a superdy duperdy thrifty day.

Dress: $1
Belt: $1
Necklace: $1
Leather Peep Toe Pumps: $1

After School Snack: Chocolate Fondue Muffin Tin

Filling up a muffin tin for my kids' after school snack is a snap. I made the fondue in the morning and just reheated a little right before they got home.

I served it with apples, bananas, pretzels and graham crackers.

My made-up fondue recipe. :) based on what my friend made the other night.
1 c. heavy whipping cream
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
Heat these three ingredients on medium low until the milk starts to hang off the spoon when dipped.
Add
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate)
1 c. peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
Heat thoroughly and serve.
Have a sweet day!

Pinspired Challenge #17 Happiness

Inspiration Pin

I had a wonderful crafty night last night and got to make this card for Pinspired Challenge #17
The pin inspiration was so bright and cheery to work with. I began by coloring a panel with Peacock Feather Distress ink and dripping water all over it.
I used the Direction of Happy Unity stamp for the front panel with Kaleidoscope ink and Picked Raspberry Distress ink.
Come join in the fun!
Have a great day.

Sweet Stamp Shop UWYH Challenge #16

I'm participating in Sweet Stamp Shop's Use What You Have Challenge #16.

This is the inspiration picture and sketch.
Here are a few things I've had for quite some time. Those Sticky Stitches have been with me for YEARS!
So I got busy and made a fun little card.

So, here's the card I created based on the inspiration picture. I used the Against the Grain stamp set.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

I've been making my own laundry soap for over a year now. I've changed it up a little from when I first started.. This is actually the first time that I've ever used ZOTE instead of Fels Naptha bar soap. I started using the Purex crystals with the last batch I made.
So, to clarify, this is my third batch of detergent and it's been over a year. :) I use one scoop (the one from the SUN bucket) for each load of laundry. It lasts a long time. I have a family of six and I do a load of laundry just about every day of the week, if not two loads.

The only real "work" you have to do is to grate your bars of ZOTE.
I just layer my ingredients into the container and kind of mix as I go along. I grate the ZOTE directly into the container.

I bought this container at Costco. It's a Buddeez brand and was part of a set.It has a flip top lid.
If you're sensitive to smells you'll probably want to stick with the FELS NAPTHA and leave out the Purex Crystals. If you do use the FELS you'll want three bars, the ZOTE is larger and less expensive.
There you have it. We're good for anther 5-6 months.
PS, my daughter has super sensitive skin and she has no problems with this detergent.
