Feeling a little down today. I don't think I'll share the details as they're so horrible most of you would think I was talking about a soap opera and not MY life. Although I will say that what has come to light has nothing to do with my life right now, rather my life ten years ago. So with that said here's the card.
I cut the "branch" out of some shimmery brown/gray paper I had and then drew some twigs coming off of it. I believe I used one of my spectrum pads for the leaves and there you have it...a solemn depiction of the way I feel today. A little barren.
Have a great day.
Misty

ReplyDeleteDown days are tough.
ReplyDeleteSorry- I hope this doesn't come off as a lecture. You strike me as a very grateful and strong person so don't think I am saying these things for that reason. We all have tough days - they are part of life. These thoughts have just been on my mind this week because I gave a talk last week on Gratitude. It opened my eyes to a different way of thinking about it that applies to tough days. I read Bonnie D Parkin's conference talk on it and a 1996 talk by James E Faust on it entitled Gratitude a saving principle. Basically my talk was about how Gratitude is a saving principle- it saves us on the down days(I also emphasized in my talk that there are times we should be sad- we have to be sad sometimes). Gratitude helps us move on when we are ready. No matter how impossible life gets we have the Atonement to be grateful for. And gratitude is an appropriate way to begin to feel happiness again when we are sad. Of course, that doesn't mean we have to be grateful for the hard stuff either. :) I just really love thinking about how God has given us Gratitude as a commandment because it will help us move on. I love that he has also given us the ultimate reason to be grateful. Anyway- I hope you don't feel this is inappropriate- I probably should have e-mailed instead. I hope it helps because you are truly wonderful!
Also I love that card! It reminds me of a japanese block print which is a style that I love!
