For those of you who are squeamish, look away,.this post is not for the faint of heart. On Halloween, Jakob, was rushing out the front door and smashed his poor finger. I think it looks totally disgusting but I'm not sure what to do...
my dh want's to put a hole in the nail and release the pressure. I think that sounds very dramatic. Have any of you ever dealt with this before? I'm going to be making some baby cards for the store this weekend. Have a great day!
I would try keep his arm elevated higher than is heart so it will be less pressure in is fingers. Putting a cold facecloth for 1 minute followed by another one of warm for 1 minute and keep going for 10 minutes if you kid can tolerate it will help drain some of the swelling away. His body should be taking care of the rest! I hope it does help some! If he is in pain... I guess only a doc could help... I would not put an hole in is nail since it's at hight risk to get infected after. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Poor Jakob! I think putting a hole in it sounds traumatic. Can you imagine watching someone do that to you? Of course my husband would want to do the same thing. Joey's didn't even look that bad when he broke the tip off of his finger. I would go to the doctor.
ReplyDeleteWow! He sure did a number on that finger! You know what Eric did last Sunday with his finger. I was in the urgent care for 3 hours and they took 3 x-rays only to tell me nothing was wrong with it. It just looked really bad. I don't think I would put a hole in it. I think I would go to the doctor if it is really hurting him. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI saw drill the hole! At this extent, the doctor will be doing the same thing...but it will be tramatic, and maybe your son might like having you as someone he could look to for comfort while the doctor is making the hole.

Poor little chap. I would say go to the doctors rather than attempting any DIY remedy!
ReplyDeleteoo poor little thing ,take him A -E ,i would pass out if i had to do it ,
ReplyDeletegood luck ,Dawnx
The doctor could do the hole drilling with sterile equipment. I agree about the infection risk. Poor guy. Soaking in warm water with Epsom salts dissolved in it would help too.
ReplyDeleteOweeeee!! That looks awfully painful. Poor little guy. I do hope his finger gets better.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter note, thanks for visiting my blog! I did have a great time at CKC Seattle. I hope to go to CKC Portland in March and actually take some classes!!
