Quick Update...Major Mess

Jonah went to the Dr. yesterday. He now weighs an astounding 10lbs. 5oz. and measures at 23 inches long. He'll be four weeks old tomorrow. It's already going way too fast.

He was up practically all night last night I think he has caught his brother's cold. Ugh. I'm wiped out but my dh stayed home today (without me asking I might add) and has been so awesome. I love that guy. The babe is finally asleep and I'm going to keep tackling this problem...it's taking me forever to get organized and to cull out stuff I no longer want or need.
I'll try to post the after shots...when things are more respectable.
Here's a during shot.

For Nicole...sorry you never received it...

I remark sheepishly. Poor Nicole was so sick and I made this card for her to cheer her up. I just never got around to giving it to her and admittedly she's a whole lot better now, just not totally recovered. What a horrible visiting teacher I am. Bad Misty.
So anywho. I first sprayed the blue cardstock with Frosty Nights glimmer mist. Next, I just mounted a sticker on cardstock and trimmed it out. Laid a piece of tule over top and sewed a pocket...added flower glitter in the pocket and finished sewing. I used a tiny dragonfly stamp to create the border strip and sprayed it with Tiger Lily glimmer mist. Lastly, I punched the circle, wrote my sentiment and sprayed it with Olive Vine glimmer mist. Walah, all finished.

So today, my dearest husband got told off over the phone while I was standing in Target. He had called me for the third time to ask how I was doing. I told him nothing was going on and I just wanted to keep busy to which he replied, "NOTHING!". Yes dear, nothing. He was acting so frustrated I practically yelled into the phone, "What, do you think I WANT this baby to stay inside me, do you think I'm holding it in on purpose?" He quickly realized his gaff and apologized profusely. Sheesh, he's worse than my mom who keeps calling me EVERY day to ask me, "Have you had the baby yet?". The two people in my life that I'm sure to call call FIRST are giving me a darn headache. Sorry to rant but I want this baby out. I haven't gained ANY weight in the past month but my stomach has gotten huge and I'm starting to worry about how big this little boy will be when he enters the world. Aaron was a HEALTHY 9lbs 6oz and I really don't want to deliver a 10lb plus baby. Thankfully I've only purchased one package of Newborn sized diapers. We probably won't be needing many of them.
On the plus side...the weather is very nice today and my FIL is making huge strides with building the closet that will house my wonderful water softener...which will then allow me to have a DISH WASHER...well, I have one now but I don't use it because our water is so hard and I would just have to rewash the dishes anyway. Do a little happy dance for me on that one.
Have a great day!

So lovin' this song. How Can I Be?

I hope you don't mind me sharing this, but it's simply lovely even if you don't share the same religious beliefs that I do. They sing so well together and I am in love with the Ukelele in ANY song right now.
Oh, and here's my Aaron at the petting zoo yesterday.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Post.

Aaron, this morning with a bunch of carrots from our garden, we got a yellow one and as soon as I took the picture he went and ate it! We also got "a fat one, an armed one, and a perfect one" according to Jakob. Danielle's Onsies...so sweet. I love her saying for the air balloon one "High on Milk". Me, sewing Jonah's blanket. I still need to get a pic of the finished project. I love the alien fabric. Another box full of goodies from Kristy! I am in love with that circle unity stamp (so Jakob would say, "Why don't you marry it?"). Yum, yum. Look at these sweet baby boy outfits. Darling package. Awwww, the darn bunny...cost me an arm and part of a leg today. Turns out his teeth are a MAJOR problem and, yeah, they'll need to be trimmed once a month which only costs $15.00. Not bad you say, well here's the kicker...the gas to knock the bunny out to have his teeth trimmed costs $57.00...YUP that's right folks I just adopted us big problem. I have no one else to blame but myself, I am just gullible and love sweet, furry things. The vet also had a second recommendation, surgically pulling the teeth, which would cost between three and four hundred dollars (like my husband would ever let that happen for a $20.00 rabbit). I was suffering over what to do and decided to get his teeth trimmed today so he has at least one healthy month left before we have to make any big decisions. I feel so bad, I just dont' know what to do especially with the little guy coming so soon. Hopefully you have a better day than I did. Take care.

Aaron's Sweet Lashes

Fun layout of my little baby boy, well, when he was a baby. I love these little epoxy squares. Traced and watercolored the title. Papers are Daisy D's and DCWV.
So, I was visiting Kristy's blog and she was talking about her State Fair entries and I had to get on my soap box about our darn State Fair (entries due Thursday-Sat). This is what I had to say to Kristy...
"You know what's not fair? It's not fair that you actually have good categories at your state fair and that the scrapbooking category is hosted by none other than Creative Memories (don't get me wrong I like CM for some things). So, why do you think this upsets me so, well, let me fill ya in on the details of submitting here in NM.
1. You are NOT allowed to use ANY embellies on your lo that might detract from it being archivally safe (it could fall off and ruin a picture you know).
2. You wouldn't dare try cool, crazy, new techniques on a lo, that's just NOT the CM way.
3. Pretty much as "out there" as the design substance gets is making your own die cut shapes, or putting red dots on the background paper for a chicken pox lo.
4. There's only three categories...celebration of an event, everyday, and heritage. So there you have it. I have entered many a lo in the State Fair and YES, unbelievably I have won a few ribbons and once I even won the purple best of show ribbon, but I'm tired of only choosing and submitting pages because they meet the CM criterian and not submitting MY favorite layouts. I'm done being a conformist.
I will, however, be entering things in the rubber stamping category: they love my crazy, artistic nature...they've never told me I couldn't do something on my own creations. ..I'm raging against the machine. Some year a local sb store might sponsor the category and I'll enter again, a girl can dream can't she."
Hugs,Misty
The above lo would NEVER win a ribbon from the State Fair judges because of the epoxy squares. Oh well, it's still one of my faves.

Yard work is for the birds...

Well, I'm almost all the way done with the project I started two days ago...my back is killing me as are my shoulders and ribs. I feel AWESOME. Ugh. Sarcasm. My body feels like it went through the ringer but I do feel really good about getting things done outside. We have three acres of high desert weeds SMILE, but we're working on it. Landscaping out here means doing a little bit at a time and trying to plant things that will survive the pretty hot summers and really snowy winters (the snow does melt fast though). We've had a ton of rain and the weather has been super for working out doors. My dh, bless his heart, mowed about an acre and a half with his push mower today. After which he informed me once again that we need a riding mower...I KNOW! Anyone got a couple thousand laying around? Just kidding.
So, I'm beat and I haven't had time to do anything crafty or scrappy, but I did make this card a few days ago for the store. Remember, I was on my masking kick. I suppose it'll do. I love ORANGE PEEL STICKLES! YUMMMO!

So, we got to go on a real live date tonight. We went to eat at this amazing cafe. The food is so good there and Travis loved it all. We were going to see a movie, but I just couldn't fathom sitting through 2 hours and 40 minutes of Batman when my body just wants it's bed...so we went to Home Depot instead and tried to pick out some landscaping rock for the front. I also got myself a stylin' new pair of gardening gloves since my last pair is spent. Well, I'm off to finish my Sunday School lesson, take care and have a super night.

Sprinkled with Love

Good morning everyone! I just wanted to get up on the right side of the bed this morning. I only woke up twice to pee last night. Sorry, TMI. I received this image from Jill a while ago and decided to use it for another wedding card. My SU order came in yesterday and with it my So Swirly wheel which I used for the background in Whisper White ink and over the image in River Rock ink. I used my water brush to color in the image with Taken with Teal ink and Old Olive ink. The button is from FooFaLa. Today begins the tax free weekend for buying school supplies, clothing and gadgets. Do you think it will be a madhouse? I'm sure it will be. I need to go to Costco, get some dog food and get some other assorted goodies. Have a great day.

So Imperfect

First off, I just want to say that the mere act of walking shouldn't HURT so much. Ugh...this little guy is a pain in the well, not so much the butt but well, it's kinda personal. I've been so busy going through baby clothes and ALL of Tessa's clothes that I haven't had time to create. Our fourth will be our final so I'm unloading all of the girl clothes I've saved up over the years! It's a big job. One very IMPORTANT thing I've learned is that oxi clean really DOES work when you soak the article of clothing for a couple of days...just a little tidbit.
I'm not perfect...not a perfect mom, or wife, or scrapper, or even blogger...so bear with me.
Have a great day.

Baptism Dress card

I just couldn't sleep last night...hormones I guess. I always get worried that my thyroid is acting up again when this kind of thing happens but it's probably just the babe. So in the midst of my sleepless night I had a brilliant idea for a baptism card. One of the girls I teach on Sundays is getting baptized this Saturday and I hope she likes what I came up with...
I just used a onesie card as a jumping off point. I used my Fiskars Edge punch for the bottom and the sleeves of the dress. I think it's the victorian lace one. I outlined the edge with sliver glitter and then added the shimmery flower trim across the midriff. The silver, metal flowers are part of a necklace beading kit. I used my 1 3/8" circle punch for the neck hole, added the scallop trim which was punched with my scallop punch and finally, I used my Sakura glitter gel pen to add some bling around the scallops. A little hard to see all the gorgeous details but it's so pretty.
Just a funny...last night I suggested we eat out at a local Soup Or Salad because I was craving salad (oh and because I hate cooking when I'm pregnant, nothing sounds good). We're seated and enjoying our goodies and my dh turns to me and says, "It must be pregnant women night tonight." At first I was like yeah right! Then I took a good look around, heck if there weren't FIVE other pregnant ladies chowin' down on some greens. Too funny.

Happily Ever After

So I finally got around to using one of the images that Jenn D. sent me in the mail. I actually don't know who this image comes from...Jenn? I used my prisma color pencils and oderless turpentine to color it in. The paper is a scrap and the flower came in the mail from Jill. Brad from Joann's.
Today is a cleaning the car day, especially since I have to take my friend's parents to the airport (she can't drive because of a C-section). The car isn't actually that bad, but still it needs freshening. I was also hoping to plant some more of my morning glory seeds I harvested last fall. It's been so dry here compared to other years. I'm worried what our water bill will be with the garden and all. Everything looks great except the onions. Wonder why.
Hope you have a great day!

Makin' Tracks...EMDR

I was just creating for this card. I'm sure it will go to some adorable little boy I know. The stamp is from Basic Grey. I used Not Quite Navy ink. I inked the edges with Old Olive. EK Success grass punch and I popped some up with dimensionals. Ribbon is from American Crafts.

I was out of sorts this weekend. I experienced something that was extremely traumatic to me on Saturday and only felt better yesterday after going for a session of EMDR therapy.
I wasn't exactly skepticle when I went in but I was afraid it wouldn't be able to help me with what I was experiencing. I was proven wrong and I came away from my session feeling better than I have in years and will probably go back at least once more. I want to say thank you to my friends that have had EMDR and shared their own amazing experiences. It truly helped me to take that leap and heal myself. I am definitely going to suggest my mom find someone in her area that does EMDR, it would help her so much. I'm just rambling as always, but it was so interesting to see how your brain can be reprogrammed to NOT react to certain things the way it used to.
I hope you have an amazing day.

Fondue With Friends

My friend, Jenn, put together a fondue night for our friends that have known eachother since before marriage or children. It was my first forray into fondue. Man, was I in heaven, I must have eaten my share of the night's millions of calories. So yummy. I had a lot of fun with this double lo. The pictures of the people were very yellow due to lighting so I converted those to b/w and left the foodie pics vibrant. We also had a white elephant gift exchange. The green goo was one of the things we ended up with and the rest of the night was spent by all making farty noises with it and just generally manhandling it!!!!
Today is our ninth anniversary and I've got a sitter so we're FREEE!!!!! I don't know what we'll be doing but I'm sure we'll have a good time.
Have a great day.

Lifetime of Happy Tomorrows

I had a lot of fun with my brand new Verve stamp sets, can you tell? I used Julee Tillman's Mojo Monday Sketch #38 for my jumping off point. I need to make an extra special card for one of my kiddos at church who was baptized this past Saturday. She's such a sweetie. I used the stem stamp from SU Double Line Doodle set to go with my Verve Visual Petals and Stems set. I think I have a thing for polka dots. A lot of scraps of paper here. I used my Creative Memories Oval Cutter to cut the oval for the sentiment.
Yesterday was my dh's birthday. We went to Pizza Barn for dinner. Travis loves their pizza. We came home and at German Chocolate cake and Breyers Loaded Waffle Cone Ice cream, again, his choice. Then he got on the roof and hooked up the cooler because MAN was it hot yesterday! Happy Birthday Honey! He actually went deep sea fishing with his dad and friends over Mother's Day weekend and there was an understanding that that would be his "present". They caught quite a lot of fish and ended up with about 20 lbs. of fillets each when all was said and done. Does anyone know any good fish recipes? We have many different kinds of sea fish and I'm at a loss besides baked or grilled. Hee hee.
Oh, and don't let me forget to give a big shout out to Jenn D. over at Stamp Your Heart Out. She's such a sweetie. She sent me the cutest card (which I will post as soon as I get a pick) and some images that my daughter, Tessa, fell in love with. Thanks JENN!
Have a great day!

In Sympathy

My friend, Kari, called yesterday and aksed me to make her two sympathy cards. I was happy to oblige, although sympathy cards are always challenging for me.
I started with this gatefold card. The silk flower is a bit lighter irl. Dragonfly stamp is in River Rock, handmade leaf design paper. Handmade ghost flower with Saddle Brown StazOn inkk added.. Soft Sky cuttlebugged bg inked over in Soft Sky ink. Finally I sewed around the front panels for the finishing touch.
It's been raining for the last two days and I'm in heaven. Means I don't have to water the garden or the flowers AND that there's not a TON of wind. The only drawback is the leaky roof. Yup, we've got a screw hole leak right above my craft area because I wanted to hang a vintage lamp and put ribbon in it. We will be getting a brand new roof in September. I'm waiting with baited breath...a bunch of my paper was almost dripped on today!
Have a great day.

Layout, global warming or last days?

Just posting a picture of a lo I did on my MIL and FIL. This is a picture we took a couple of years ago at Disney Land. It's amazing what Weight Watchers has done for them! They look so thin now compared to this pic.I used silk/paper flowers that I purchased at the $1 store for this lo. I scanned it in but I think I'll take a picture of it later. It's so hard to get a true representation of a lo or card on the blog ya know!?!?!

I've been thinking a lot about all that has been going on around the world lately, ie earthquakes, volcanic erruptions, tsunamis, tornadoes. I just wanted to put the question out there...what the heckdo you think is going on? My very close friend thinks it ALL has to do with global warming...I thought to myself that the last time I checked volcanic and techtonic activity aren't even remotely related to global warming, are they? We're very opposite politically and sometimes I feel that gets in the way of us speaking about things without letting politics rule. I love her so much but I have to admit I was frustrated after hanging up the phone. So I'm asking you...what's your opinion. Mass intelligence out there.

I feel horrible for all those that are suffering at this time, 9,000 dead in China, someone from our church is living in China, his mom has no idea how he is yet. My other friend from Church is from Chile and she's so worried for her family.

So, do you think it's time we REALLY started preparing for "something major" or do you think if we just cut back on our greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint everything would be all right? Just puttin' it out there.

Have a thought provoking day.

Mojo Monday #36

Had a wonderful day today. Tessa graduated from preschool. They were all so stinkin' cute. I now have her on video doing the chicken dance...side splitting action I tell ya. Paper cap and all.

Oh, oh, oh, and yesterday I reaceived my brand new toy from Lesli over at Dragon Fly Time. I was so excited to see the little package on my porch. A new Cuttlebug for moi! Yeah.
I made this card for my mama for her birthdayusing Julee Tillman's Mojo Monday sketch #36. This year it actually falls on Mother's Day. She's kinda unlucky that way I guess (like those who share b-days with Christmas). I'm a good little girl and ALWAYS give her a card and gift for each of the special occasions. We're originally from Illinois and my mom loves cardinals, now I know this Pun Fun bird isn't exactly a cardinal but you get the idea and so will she. I made my own ghost flower out of some packaging and used a red sharpie to add polkadots. I used my sprial punch and tied ribbon around the "tabs" in coordinating colors. The Always Artichoke flower is from the Be Happy set.
Grocery Ramblings...
On a side note I am CRAVING watermelon like ALL the time!!!! No one has it on sale right now and I just went to Smith's and paid almost $7.00 so I could have some sweet, watery, cool goodness back in my life. I don't think I've ever spent that much on a watermelon, now please don't tell me there's nothing to these crazy hormones. I also spent $3.00 on oranges and another $2.50 on apples, I bought a loaf of Nature's Own 100% Wheat Bread $2.50 (only one I've found that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it besides the low carb ones), I found a new cereal in the cereal isle that caught my eye and snatched it up it's called Uncle Sam's Toasted Whole Wheat Flakes with Flaxseed (all the bran flake brands have HFCS in them as well but this doesn't and it has 10grams of fiber...watch out world!) and finally I gave into the other craving that Never goes away, the one for chocolate and bought a Symphony bar with Toffee chips. Yummo! Total grocery bill...like $18.00...cravings BEGONE!
Have a great day.

I SUCK!

I suck at blogging. Too many doctor's appointments and the dh is out of town for the week AGAIN! Sorry. I have completed things but can't find the time to take pics and post.
I had to take Jakob to the doc today because his hands are CRACKING and bleeding... she informed me that it's the antibacterial soap at the school and now I have to take special soap to school for him to use, and he has to put special lotion on so they'll heal.
I had to take Tessa to the doctor today because she STABBED herself in the finger with a knife while trying to cut a piece of cheese, "Because, mom, I'm almost five and I can do it!" She's fine...no stitches...I just have to listen to her crying and bellyaching about how MUCH it HURTS. Maybe someday my kiddos will listen.
I have to take Aaron for his well child check tomorrow. He's mostly good but has some kind of funky toenail thing going on. Don't tell his future wife.
I won't even go into the deets on my wonderful dentist appt today that I went to FOR NOTHING. I just need to go to bed. PLUS I'm at that SUCKY stage of pregnancy when your clothes are getting TOO tight but maternity clothes just look ridiculous. Can I get a break here.
Read some good books lately.

READ you must...

Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindberg This book, although written YEARS ago is SO pertinent to our lives as women and mother's in this day and age. Wow, blown away.

I also read a book called Rice Mother that I pick up for 25cents at the thrift store. Made me SO thankful for my easy life. Very sad and interesting to read about the Japanese occupation in Malaysia. It is fiction though.

Read the Maximum Ride Series (YA) by James Patterson. I just need to get the fourth book now that it's out. They go fast and they've got a different slant to them.

I also read Ink Heart and Ink Spell (YA). I really like the story line about reading characters out of books, but was bummed because I didn't know there is going to be a third book that I have to wait for. Ugh!
Oh, and then I read this book called Sanctuary that someone gave me...umm I'm not recommending it because well it's a bit tiresome and bland. Okay though.

Out of town

Sorry, I was out of town and I've been running around all day. Got some cute stuff at the scrapbook store in Flagstaff! Can't wait to create with it! What this guy thinks is so funny I dont' know. This week is Spring Break so you probably won't see me around very much. Take care.

Green Dinner & Happy Birthday to Aaron

We had Green Chile Rellano caserole which was VERY green on the inside thanks to the help of some food coloring. Guacamole, no help needed there, green gatorade and green applesauce with pineapple mixed in. The kids called it "alien" brains. The kids complained that the chips weren't green and I guess if I had planned better we could have had guacamole chips which ARE green...maybe next year. We decided to forego the usual corned beef and cabbage and set our own theme this year. We had a lot of fun with it, and used plasticware because we wanted to have time for Family Home Evening.

Today is Aaron's birthday. He turns THREE!!!!! Now, we just have to get him fully potty trained before we can officially call him a big boy. Aaron is just going to be one of those people that makes others smile. It just comes so naturally to him, even at such a young age. Travis totally plays favorites sometimes (Aaron really takes after his daddy), and I have to remind him that he would have never let one of the other kids get away with Aaron's antics. I love my baby but pretty soon he'll be a big brother, I hope he transitions into that roll easily. Have a great day.

PS How do you like my new table cover? I gave in, I was SO tired of scrubbing dried up spilt cereal and milk off of the wood that I became my grandmother and bought a plastic cover! I think she would be proud. It might not look super stylish but it REALLY cleans up easily.
