It's HERE, It's HERE, It's HERE!

I am so excited, I received my blog candy from Verve Visual creator Julee Tilman. I feel so honored to be one of the very first people to get these stamps. They're the sweetest sentiments. Now, how to use them. I've never purchased sheets of uncut red rubbah before. I love the dotted oval stamp that you can put around the sentiments and it's looks like it just might fit my word window punch! Have a suhweet evening! I know I will.

So cute and sad

Last night when my oldest, Jakob, was on the phone with his grammy he proceeded to tell her about the little kitten we lost a couple of weeks ago. Here's how it went.
"Our little kitty died grammy. It got run over by a car. Well, it looked both ways before it crossed the street and it didn't see any cars, but there was one. I miss her."
He never told me that's how it was. It's truly amazing how the minds of children work. I miss Cloud too.

Oh and here's how I decided to "fix" the card I made a big boo boo on. I like it a lot better but I'm thinking of adding a bit more red to the left, top corner. Have a great day! Thanks for visiting.

Follow Your Dreams

A card I made for someone who's feeling down. I used the petal prints set with my watercolor crayons. I believe I used real red, so saffron, and cameo coral to fill in the flowers before I spritzed them as well as old olive for the leaves. I stamped the sentiment in old olive. I tried drawing a butterfly with orange peel stickles but it did really turn out so I think I'll cover it or figure something else out. Thanks for looking.

Loads of Birthday Cheer Beate's Sketch

Wishing you loads of Birthday Cheer. I used Beate's sketch to make this card for my friend Nicole's mom for her birthday. Nic said that her mom loves bright colors and this truck stamp. So there we go and I am pleased to tell you that I was able to use my 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby and get me a Cuttlebug. So stoked. I've seen so many cute cards with this and I hope to use it on my pages too. That leads me to the CBed bg on the card. I wanted it to be feminine even though I was using the Loads of Love truck. I used my prisma color pencils and OT to color in the image. I also used the paisley bg on the green paper with Teal Staz-0n. I drew the present and "put" them in the back of the truck. Have a great day.

Lobster Mouse

I actually did get to sit down and create. I have these house mouse halloween stamps and they are THE cutest. I actually bought the set just because of the lobster mouse, all the kids said awwww when they saw it. I used my prismas and OT to fill in the image after I stamped it in black staz-on. I got some chipboard puzzle pieces and I've been wanting to use them. Not sure it really works on this card, I guess you can't always be perfect. I sponged buckaroo blue for the sky and drew the grass with prismas. Thanks for looking. Misty

I am officially a blog candy winner!

I can't believe it but it's true. The card I entered for Poetic Artistry's sketch challenge was randomly picked and it was me, me, me all me. I will be receiving Julee's own design of rubber stamps, new release and all. I am so excited and can't wait to use them. Bloggin' rocks! I love sharing my life and work with all who are interested...as long as they're not mental (HP reference), ya know. Take care. Hopefully, I'll have time to make something today, but no promises, my house is a mine field. TFL.
Misty
I need to make baby shower invitations for my friend Natalie, she's having a girl and I'm not sure, but I think I'll keep it simple. This is card I made ages ago, but I still love the simpleness of it. I know that now I would not be able to keep it quite this plain. What do you think?

I used to scan everything, sorry.

Heidi Grace Stamps

I was at Jo-ann's yesterday and saw they are now carrying clear stamps by Heidi Grace. They're so cute. Dont' buy them though. They won't come off the contact sheet. They won't pick up ink right and they really dont' stick to the block. Don't worry, I'll be contacting HeidiGrace.com about the issues. I had the same problem with K&CO clear stamps about 6 months ago. They said they've fixed the prob but I haven't purchased them again. So this is the card I made with the stamps. Pretty stamps but because they don't stick there is some smudging.
All stamps are from that set. I used cameo coral and real red ink along with old olive. My friend Michelle knows how much I love the coral and the red together. I made this card for the sketch challenge on Poetic Aritistry I really wish these stamps worked better because they're gorgeous. Alas I'm off to get ready for the stake primary activity. TTFN.

Back of my hair

As per request here's a pic that my six year old took of the back of my hair. Sorry for the angle but this was the best one. Something creative will be posted later. Poetic Artistry has a great sketch to use.

Jack-O-Lantern House Mouse

So I did get a little time to play with the paper scraps from my last lo. I got the seed packet printout from katydidcreations.typepad.com. I stamped the green bazzill bg with little mice feet in always artichoke. I then colored in the image with prisma color pencils and then used my blender pen to smooth it out. I sponged the background with pumpking pie ink and Bliss Blue. I used colorbox black ink for the edges. He sure is a cutie. I'm wishing that I had just sponged blue behind Mr. Pumpkin but I'll think of that next time. Can't wait to ink up another of these images!!! TFL!

Explora American Crafts

Some of my friends may have already seen this lo irl, but I thought I'd share it here since it is one of my favs. I used a stamp set of circles that I got at clear dollar stamps on ebay and the "waves" (clear also) around the red circle are from rubber soul. I used my creative memories circle cutter and the wavy cutter they sell for the border strip. The chip "e" is from Joann's, painted red and inked around. I inked all of the pieces before adhering. I think it would be fun to do a card with these papers, hopefully today.
Thanks for visiting.

Deathly Hallows

Warning!!!!!!!!!!! Revelations from the newest Harry Potter installment upcoming. Stop reading now if you do not want to know "what happens". Just a warning is all. Having loads of fun with this.
My review... good but some unanswered questions for me. I think she had to fit so much in that she left some ends untidy. And why oh why did so many of our favorites have to die? For what purpose was a child left parentless yet again? There has to be another as yet unwritten book where Harry, as godfather, watches over the boy, because why else would she have killed off Lupin and Tonks. Sheesh, not to mention Fred. So frustrating. What good did his death do the story other than getting to see Mrs. Weasley angry as all get out! Liked to see sparks between Hermione and Ron finally kindled but she really glossed over Harry and Ginny...three kids later. Oh well, I was looking forward to Eclipse much more that HP anyway. I can't help it, I'm a bookaholic. Take care.

Camping + New Pages

Sorry I haven't blogged but we were camping with some friends over the weekend. It rained a bunch but we still had a great time. It was beautiful up there. You drive through tunnels carved out of the rock and there are no bathrooms!!! We ate well and Travis and I cooked for our very first time alone in the dutch oven. We made everyone Apricot/Peach Cobbler. It almost didn't get cooked all the way due to the rain, but it was YUMMY. I wish I had taken more of the pics of the adults there but I stink at that. Not one of Jim and Michelle. Darn. Wish more of "our" friens would've come up. Anywho here are some shots of that trip.

Now on to the pages I finished Friday night. The first one is of our family's trip to El Capitan State Beach. I used my slit punch to make the scalloped border. For some reason the pic shows the paper a lot more pink than the red it really is. And there is an "a" on the flower in the title. The second lo is of my dd, Tessa, and her best friend, Kate. Those two are sweethearts together. This pic was taken the day they were to be flower girls together. I stamped the flower from Doodle this in the center of one of the circles. Some rubons and bling to finish it off.
Thanks for looking. Misty

More Pages from the Duck Pond

Here are some more pages I finished of my fam at the UNM Duck Pond. I used Li'l Davis chip letters for the "mom" title and I tried to get them matchy with the Basic Grey ppr by using a white gel pen and drawing wavy lines on them. I then added varying circles. "3 Beauties" is done with prisma colors and oderless turpentine. The journaling says... "3 reasons why I find joy in life. 3 beings to be grateful for. 3 sources of endless love. 3 demanding, messy, perfect, beautiful, children of mine."
For the "Daddy" lo I used Headline Alpha with Real Red. Pretty simple but It was a great day and I had to document.

New Doo

I keep forgetting to take pics of myself with my new coiffure. So I did take some time out today to take some self portraits. I used some of my tried and true poses but they are still a little lacking for me. I probably should try screaming outloud like they do on America's Next Top Model. Not my best but enough complaining. My hair looks so cool in the back. I do it all crazy with moose. Maybe I'll have Trav take a pic later. I'm already due for another doo cut. Having short hair really takes some upkeep unlike when I let it grow and grow for a year without a cut.
Hey it's hard not to squint when facing the light. On a lighter note...
Why God Made Moms: answers given by elementary school age children to the following questions:
Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born
How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.
What kind of little girl was your Mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.
What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?
Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work & work at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.
What would it take to make your Mom perfect? 1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.
Oh and I've decided that at 2,000 hits there will be some blog candy on this here blog!

Friendship Swap Card

Here's the card that I made for the Friendship Swap on SCS. Twyant is the swap leader. First I stamped the paisley background in Real Red and cut it into six one inch strips. Next I cut index cards in half and used the SU spiral punch for the edge. I cut the black and white paisley in 2x4 strips. I used the Too Terrific Tags set stamped in versamark and then heat embossed with black powder for the main image. I added the "friend" from noteworthy in Real Red. lastly I sewed the strips of ribbon on and then adhered everything to the red polka dot card face. The mini flower with bling is actually scavenged from these barrettes my mom gave Tessa. They wouldn't hold a strand of hair and they kept falling apart anyways!!!!! Here's a pic of those.

Silly Aaron

I've been working on this lo for a couple of days now. It's been sitting, because I've been overwhelmed writing signs. Some day the word sign will be nonexistant in my vocabulary. Evil things. I guess, whatever brings the bacon home right! Enough venting here's my cutie back in September of last year. He thought he was so funny with that gladware lid. I used all basic grey except the flower rubon. I printed out my journaling strips and cut them up. My printer is on the fritz, it keeps smearing everything and then not printing the whole line. Maybe it's time for a new one. This one is like 5 years old. I hate buying ink for it because at Costco I have to buy one color cartridge with one black. I barely ever use color so that stinks and it's more expensive that way too. They used to sell two black cartridges for $40.00 bucks or so. Man, I miss the old days. I did find a steal of a deal at Costco though. They had a scrapbook refill kit, 50 page protectors, 50 pages, extender posts and it was priced at $7.88 but it rang up at $4.88!!!! So stoked. Have a great day.

Stained Glass Chile Ristra

What a horrible scan this is, sorry but the card is out of my hands and even though I'd like to add a bit to the background I can't. I stamped the image with versamark and then embossed it with black embossing powder. I colored in the chiles with markers. For a finishing touch on the image I added faint lines with a micro pen and some chalk.

Here's Mr. Coyote. I stamped him with the versamark, added heat and stick, I then added gold flake over the heat and stick. It's actually a mixture of metal flakes. The second one that I did came out better than this one. I used pearl ex powders instead of the flake but alas no pic or scan of that one. Hmm I nee to get on the ball. The bg is a stamp by Magenta that I stamped multiple times in different directions. Man this card is boring!

Have a beautimous day!

Lost in Translation

I was visiting Emily's stamping and stuff blog and she posted this link. I can not believe that people think this is a good translation to english! I think that Jenn will get a huge kick out of this having lived and taught abroad. I seriously laughed out loud at some of these pictures/translations. The last one is interesting to say the least. So go and check it out! Funny Translations.
Off to bed with me.
