Diorama 14th Century Renaissance Italy Map

I love when my love of paper crafting helps my kids. :)

Tessa was tasked with making a diorama for her 5th grade history class. She asked her teacher if it would be okay to do one of the map of Italy in their book and surprisingly her teacher said, "yes". I racked my brain on how to make a map more diorama like :) and this is the result.

I searched the net for an image of Renaissance Italy and then I printed it six times on different colored papers. Tessa cut blocks of the map out of the different colors and then we popped them up with pop dots. The red portion has three layers of dots. She then typed out all of the places and we printed them. I trimmed them for her and she snipped them down to a size that would fit.
I made the shadow box with a Silhouette Cut (Tessa did not help with that part)
She got 100 percent and now she gets to hang it on her wall in her room.
I'm entering this craft into the Scrapbook Steals Monday Craft Madness Challenge #47 to create something WITH your kids or for your kids. :)
Have a great day.

Pumpkin Grateful Card with Embossed Wood Panel

I'm participating in the Monday Craft Madness #46 GRATEFUL over at ScrapbookSteals.com.
Recently, my husband and I were invited to a dinner party-one of those murder mystery ones. It was quite the eventful evening-costumes and all. There was an elaborate menu including this DIVINE
Pumpkin Bisque with Smoked Gouda and bacon crumbles
(I only recommend not sauteing the onions in the bacon grease)

I just wanted to let my friend know that her efforts are very much appreciated and that we really enjoyed our evening of mystery and hi jinx.
I stamped the Sweet Stamp Shop wood grain background stamp in Versamark and then heat embossed. I spritzed some October Afternoon Sprinklers over the top and wiped off the excess. I stamped the "Thank You" sentiment onto a piece of architectural trace paper and tore it to fit on the front of the card. The pumpkins are from Studio G I believe and I just stamped them with Close to Cocoa, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie inks. I also spritzed some Sprinklers onto that panel as well.
Thanks for stopping in for a glimpse of  crafty goodness.

Wood Grain Paper Girls Challenge

Paper Girls Challenge #24
The new PG challenge is to use wood somehow on your layout. I used my SU woodgrain background stamp and created a few different patterned papers with it. This week's Monday Craft Madness #10 over at Scrapbook Steals was to use Sparkle and Shine.
I also used Scrapbook Steals Jade #6 Sketch to create this layout.

The papers are a mix of handmade, MME and Basic Grey Fact & Fiction

Hope you're having a super time. Headed out today to see Les Miserables for the second time :)

Rustic Wood LOVE Valentine's Day Card

ScrapbookSteals Monday Craft Madness #8 was to do something for Valentine's Day. I , of course, needed a card for my sweet honey. I thought using wood would make it a little more masculine. I also used RetroSketches #45 to start my card off right. :)

I used the Stampin' Up Headline Alpha for "LOVE" with Real Red ink. I then used my white Uniball Signo gel pen to doodle over the letters. Who needs Thickers, right?
Natural twine and a triple heart punch from Stampin' Up and I was done.
The patterned paper is from Basic Grey
Thanks to Scrapbook Steals and Retrosketches for some inspiration!
