Simply Said

I made this card for my visiting teaching companion who is so nice and offered to watch my kiddos for me so I could go to the endocrinologist yesterday. hope she likes it. Sorry the picture is so dark, but you get the idea. I used simply said along with a white gel writer, blush blossom, tempting turquoise, and regal rose for the flowers. I also used my water brush to fill in some flowers and glitter glue for the centers.
Thanks for looking.

The Down Low on The High Thyroid

Thanks to Erica for this BEAUTIFUL card, how did she know that I LOVE the color orange. Thanks E!!!!!
So here it is... what I've been waiting for... a diagnosis. Drum roll please....I have Grave's Disease. Sounds pretty scary, it is in a way but it's also a relief to be able to finally know what's wrong with me. Here's a little synopsis so anyone who wants to can be better informed like, I guess, I am now. If you're not interested in knowing exactly how your thyroid works and so on please do not read on.

"When we ingest iodine in our food, it goes selectively to our thyroid gland. In the thyroid, the iodine is converted mainly to Tetra-iodothyronine (T-4) and a small amount of tri-iodothyrine (T-3). These hormones are stored in the thyroid gland and are released when the blood level T-4 drops. When the blood level of T-4 drops, the pituitary gland (located at the base of the brain) releases Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) to stimulate the thyroid to make and release more T-4.

Hyperthyroidism can result from either the thyroid gland making too much thyroid hormone or from the thyroid gland releasing too much thyroid hormone."

Grave's Disease: Normally the thyroid gland is under tight control and it makes only the amount of thyroid hormone your body needs. In Grave's Disease, the gland tends to become diffusely enlarged and it begins to continuously make and release thyroid hormone without regard to the body's needs. It fails to respond to any of the normal controls. There are three ways that we can treat Grave's Disease...

1. Surgery: Not my first choice because they could damage the parathyroid gland and then not only do you have to worry about taking hormones for the rest of my life but then I'll have to worry about my calcium balance in my body. They could also damage the nerve that controls my voice box. Ummmm, no thanks I love to talk TOO much.

2. Antithyroid Medications: What I'm opting for. Lots of blood draws to control your hormone levels, maybe rashes, in which case you try a new medication. One person in 15,000 can get toxic hepatitis and become jaundiced. One person in every 30,000 to 40,000 patients has a sudden disappearance of all the white cells that fight infection. The patient usually develops a very severe sore throat and must be hospitalized and put in isolation. This is a life threatening complication and must be addressed immediately.

3. Radio Active Iodine: To kill your thryoid by radiation, you will then be on thyroid replacement medication for the rest of your life.

I'll also be taking Beta-Blockers. They cover up the symptoms and protect against the toxic effects of hyperthyroidism. They have side effects like slowing your heart rate so much that it could cause you to pass out and then you must be hospitalized and given medications to speed up your heart rate. WARNING: after you have been taking beta-blockers for awhile, you CAN NOT stop taking them suddenly as it could cause you to have a fatal heart rhythym. They must be slowly tapered off.

I'm beginning to wonder if the treatment for hyperthyroid is worse than the actual hyperthyroid. I will have to choose wisely.

Forever Love

A layout I did for my mom and my stepfather. I used Bohemia pprs and some craft cardstock. My new double heart punch. Technique Teusday chip hert and SU chip brackets. I also use my SU Simply Said set for the stamped hearts. Li'l Davis foam stamps for title and white gel pen to fill in. Thanks for looking.

Erica's Amazing

This lo was basically created for me by Erica, of course, I've added my own little touches here and there. I'm also still not finished, I need to add journaling at the bottom. We used craft ink turquoise and orange then brayered chocolate chip over top. We then inked up the blossom stamp with gel bleach and finally, cut it out. My chipboard letters are Li'l Davis and I used a CTMH flower stamp in Teal staz-on along with saddle staz-on to distress them. I also used Ranger Ind.
Home again today. We might be having sweet and sour chicken for dinner if I can pull everything together. Endocrinologist on Thursday, maybe I'm a little too excited to find some medication that will make me all better...but I can't help myself, I've heard way too many good things about people feeling a zillion times better on meds. Soooo, back to the spray park again tomorrow. Moriarty on Wednesday. Erica, my demonstrator is going to be selling some of her retiring sets on July 7th, I'm totally in! Also, can't wait to see the new catalog. Hmmmm, well, have a great day, and Family Home Evening all.

Laurel's Birthday/Beate's Sketch

So Lolo had a birthday while we were away in California. I keep forgetting to give her the card and gift certificate to Mark Pardo. I also forgot to take a pic of the certificate which was pretty cool because you could pick out different styles and then print it out. The cert was pinkish with orange flowers. So here's the card. I used Beate's sketch, check out her blog she's amazing

Today the kids were a little wild today at church but we had fun during sharing time which I was in charge of. I finished my class lesson 10 minutes early and sat there listening to the kids tell me about their weeks for the rest of the time. They are so cute sometimes. Our ward hosted a date night last night and It was nice to get away without the kiddos for a time. We actually got to talk to other adults without being interrupted. Kathy still thinks that she will do scrapbooking this Thursday which I'm psyched about. I bought the movie 13 going on 30 and the babysitter watched it with the kids last night. This morning Jakob asked me if I could get hime some wishing powder like the girl had in the movie. First, I told hime that was only pretend and second I asked him what he would wish for it he had it. ANSWER: "More K'nex mom, a million and eighty thousand, mom!!!!" Hmmmmm, I was hoping for a bigger house. More tomorrow.

Kids say the darndest things...

I will post something creative tomorrow, but for now something TOTALLY hilarious that Tessa said tonight right after we had our evening family prayer.
It was my "turn" to pray and I said things like we're grateful for President Hinckley and for all of our family and friends and then on to we thank thee so much for such a wonderful bishopric that loves and supports each of us and on and on and on.
So, right after the prayer Tessa says, "Who's Rick?" Travis and I don't know and Ricks so we we're clueless as to what she's talking about. We look at eachother and then back to Tessa, who at this point is getting really frustrated with her dumbfouded parents and proceeds to ask again.......
"Who's Rick, RICK, you know Bishop Rick?"
Needless to say we COULD NOT contain our laughter when those two pieces were put together. She's just the cutest.

Going Nowhere

Today I'm home, ALL DAY, with my three stir crazy children, until 5:30 (Jakob has his last T-ball practice). So now I'm going a little crazy. I did 40 signs, all they had for me to do at the time. Helped Jakob with 6 pages of kindergarten math and a small book. Fed the kids and put two of them down for a nap. Helped Jakob build his car track so he could race his cars. Put a princess dress on Tessa and "married" her and Aaron because that's who she asked to marry her. Took a super Cheesy picture of Aaron with his Lightning McQueen. Vaccumed. Cleaned off the counters. Made Gold Bars. I printed the recipe for them off of my friend Michelle's (my belle) blog. Made jello. I also had time to make this card. I'm visiting a new woman at church and I thought I'd give her this card with me and my companion's phone numbers. I'm meeting up with her and some other friends at the spray park tomorrow.

Going Good

Another card I made for one of my boys in my sunday school class. I used a stampendous monkey stamp from their changito line. And this is the lo I made from the class Erica taught yesterday at the party. We used the Polka dots and Paisley set along with watercolor wonder crayons on velum to get that beautiful paisley (except for the cut out paisleys those are done on watercolor paper). I also went back and used my Technique Tuesday paisleys and embossed them in white around the borders of the lo. The "adorable" sentiment is from the CTMH Adorable set. The ribbon is from Michael's. Hers was much different than mine but it's all about your own creativity right?
Things here are going pretty well. The SU party was good yesterday despite the fact that the swamp cooler wasn't working at all and it was HOT! I went a little overboard, but I'm okay. I'll just have to do extra signss. I've got to go pick some up today and then run to Costco. I'll probably let the kids go to the spray park again because it's free and I hope the weather's still HOT. It's always hotter in town though. I have tons of pictures to print from vacation so I can get some scrapping done. I love my new haircut. The guy in Flagstaff that cut it did such an amazing job and he was cheaper than any place in ABQ. I'm thinking of making trips to FLAG just to get my hair done... I know that's extreme but, hey, I don't want to take any chances. I have to go pay the water bill today too and get some bread.

Playing Catch Up

I have not had time to scrap or stamp so I'll post some more pics from our trip. My SU party is tomorrow and I've been trying to keep the house in order. There will be about 20 people here tomorrow(including children) so I don't know why I'm bothering. Hehehe.

This is Grampy's perfect CAR pancake for Jakob, his other creations included a rainbow, a butterfly and Minnie Mouse!

This is a beautiful flower, one among thousands in the forest we hiked through.
Our family picture taken by Uncle Joe, thanks Joe!

This is such a cool path. I love to walk it every year, I never get tired of all of the amazing trees and flowers.
My "CHEESY" Aaron. I love it!

We're Back and Peeling from the sun hahaha!

Well we've arrived safely and exhausted and glad to be home. What a spectacular trip! Here are some pics for now and I'll write more later. Hugs, Misty

Travis, of course, had to find a snake! On the beach no less.

Tessa, loves to pose for the camera!

Aren't these cool seed pods?

Aaron, lovin' life on the beach! Doesn't this starfish look like it has a baby's bottom?

Doesn't this look like something out of a scary sci-fi movie to you? I still have no idea what it is!

Jakob had such a blast boogie boarding! Especially since he had a wet suit and his lips never turned blue this time!

My Father In Law

He's a GREAT man! Have I told you lately how much I love my in-laws. They are so wonderful. Anywho, this here it the card I made for my super FIL! We'll just have to wait and see what Travis writes in it, probably, "love, Travis", you know he doesn't like to get too wordy ;0)! I just scanned it, no time for pics right now. Use magnolia paper, and was TOTALLY wishing for some SU black craft ink after I saw how crisp my friend, Michelle's, elephant image was. So tomorrow we pack up and get ready to go. I probably won't post during our vacation, but check back on the 18th or 19th for some fun/beautiful vacation pics. Take care all. Love Misty

Walk in my shoes for a day!

Today was a CRAZY day. This morning Tessa woke up at6:00am. She had a princess party to go to and I had to do her hair! Well at least that's the explanation she used for being up so early. I did her hair, specifically "princess bubble hair" ie. pigtails but the end of the pigtail is left in the rubberband so it bubbles up. That is one of her most requested hair styles. SO, I was up and I needed to get a ton of stuff ready. I got the boys up and fed them all breakfast. I left the house at 8:45am and went to deliver Jen's SU goodies. She was so happy to have them in her hands, hand delivered no less. Then I was on my way to drop Tessa off at her princess birthday party, which didn't start until 11:00 but since I had some radiation to go take she had to be early. Next up to Just Too Cute to pick up my paycheck. Phew, that will cover the mortgage check in the mail. On to the Library to drop off the majorly overdue books Tessa checked out before the end of the school year. THANK GOODNESS there's no such think as late fees on books anymore. Next, to the bank to deposit that huge paycheck of mine. U-Turn back on the freeway, headed to town. I've made it to the hospital. Now, how to find a parking spot. Are you kidding me? I drive around for about 15 minutes searching...searching....finally, bingo, park. Get the boys out head to oupatient admissions. Another 12 minutes waiting to get registered. She asks, "Would you like a map or an escort," while my two year old screams at the top of his lungs because she just took her pen back and he can't draw on mommy's paperwork anymore. I quickly tell her PLEASE just give me an escort, now he flailing on the ground and being a "terrible two year old" to the tee. Five minutes later my escort arrives... a night with a shining wheelchair, again I ask, are you kidding me? So I, the patient, perfectly capable of walking, sit my butt down in the chair and scrape up my screaming two year old. Off we go to Nuclear Medicine situated in the deepest, darkest, bowels of the hospital. Two elevators, three lefts, and five rights later we've arrived. He's finally calmed down, he enjoyed the ride and I wipe the alligator tears from his eyes. Jakob, meanwhile wonders out loud why he couldn't ride too. I'm called back and there on the desk is this vial sitting in a hollowed out piece of lead that looks like it just came from the junkyard. Next to it is a cup of water which the little rascal immediately tries to grab. After more questions about heart palpatations and over sensitivity to heat or cold I'm finally ready to swall the menacing pill. Easy. I'm off, this time walking out on my own, draging the dragon who is my beautiful, baby boy. Costco, across town, returning the dry roasted almonds I specifically told my dear hubby not to buy (raw is best). Eight dollars, hot dog, soda. Across the street to the Sprayground. The free water spray park at the beautiful community center. Change the boys, get Aaron over his new found fear of the water. Ten minutes later sit down, eat hot dog. Give boys granola bars and water. No lunches being served for the kids until next week. Another 45 minutes later and a huge egg on Aaron's head and were changed and ready to go get them lunch. Wal-mart, lunchables, found a cute outfit (Travis later said the shirt looks like a maternity one, ughhhh). Car, boys eating lunchables, drinking caprisuns, eating skittles. Back across town, dropping off Natalie's SU goodies. She's not there, at an interview, good luck. Oh forgot, here's some pictures I've been meaning to give her. Need glue runners, stop at store, pick up three, back in the car, back to the hospital. They need to check my radiation levels. Where's Travis? He's supposed to meet me here at 2:15. At last, he's here, 2:26. Rush down to the bowels again sans escort (thank goodness). Ten minutes later I'm out again. Travis is driving the boys home, getting the Toyota van, picking up Tessa, getting some gas, and coming back into town so that we can drop the van off for work and still be able to get home. I go to the thrift store, w/o any children and I find a cute pair of shorts and a t-shirt for Aaron, and three fishing type hats for the kids to wear while we're at the beach next week. Call Travis, where are you? Okay meet you there in 15. I get there first and have some time to gather up all of the trash that has accumulated in the back seat of our small car. 3:45, dropping of van, explaining what they haven't fixed correctly, okay, no it is not our car's alarm system, it worked perfectly before you "fixed" it. Guy says wellllllll, I'll have to figure out what's wrong with it. DUH! Half an hour later we're all together again. Travis has to mail off a dvd he sold on half.com. That seriously takes about15-20 minutes. Seems EVERYBODY decided to go the the PO today. We're on our way to Harbor Freight to check out bike racks so that we can take bikes to the beach. I look down, it's 5:00pm. Oh no, is that really the time. Jakob, has a T-ball game at 6:00. Back on the freeway, headed back home. Jakob, get your uniform on! It's still in the dryer and I forgot to turn the dryer on. Luckily it was the ONLY thing in the dryer. Hurry, hurry. We get there with five minutes to spare. They have and okay game, the other teams outfielders rocked, maybe they actually get to practice on a field (there's always someone on the t-ball field when our team has practice). Luckily, no scores are kept in t-ball. Hungry! Stop at burger king for a bite to eat with Jakob. He's excited about the spiderman toys. We're on our way home, it's 7:30, I look down and there are the overdue rental movies Travis has lovingly placed in the car for me to return. To the movie gallery. Return the movies, never renting again. Home, pajamas, here I am it's 10:00pm. What a day. Tomorrow, the full Thyroid uptake scan, but hopefully not as busy as today.

Shore Do Love You

Mister Crabby Pants arrived today! I'm so super excited. It took me a while to mount all the stamps, but it's done and I made my first father's day card with it. Sentiment is "Shore Do Love You" and on the inside it says "A Father's love is special- It understands and cares and grows a little stronger with each joy a family shares- A father's love is special and that's more than ever true when a father is as wonderful in every way as you! Happy Father's Day". Gatefold card. Crabby is colored in with Really Rust and an aquapainter.

I also made another simple card with my PSX truck. Colored the same way with Cranberry Crisp.

Church was great today. The kids were a little antsy, but they're still so good. Our lesson was on prayer and how it's so important to even our daily lives. So good to be reminded. Aaron and Travis stayed home because Travis was having a pounding sinus headache. That was my day yesterday, now my nose just won't stop running, at least I'm not in pain. Well, I'm off to bed.

Tomorrow I go to begin the Thyroid Scan procedure so they can figure out exactly what's wrong with my thyroid and maybe explain why I lost the baby. We can't try for another baby unti this is all worked out, and that's just frustrating as all get out. I know I'm blessed with three beautiful kiddos and shouldn't complain, but Travis and I just don't feel as if our family is complete yet.
I don't know if I'll have time to post tomorrow and we're leaving Thursday for a little over a week so we'll see.

Bye for now.

Celebrate You

This is just a quick entry before I run off to another of Jakob's T-ball game. I made this card last night. I just sponged inks around the edges and used my aqua painter to fill in. I used my paper crimper to make the bottom of the cupcake and mini ponpoms for the sprinkles. I hand wrote celebrate you. Inks: Ballet Blue, Marigold Morning, Green Galore.

Beate's Sketch Challenge: Hello Friend

Got my signs turned in, around 682 of them. At 40 cents a sign that adds up to.....$300.00 before taxes. That should be nice for the trip! Jakob, has a T-ball game tonight at 6:00. I will try to get some decent pics for a lo. It's not super windy, raining, or cold today!. I made this card for Beate's Sketch Challenge. She has such useful, easy sketches. This one might go to the store for some deserving customer. I keep telling myself I need to make manly cards for FD.

Technique: I stamped the Stampendous flower on watercolor paper with black Staz-on. I then used pumpkin pie and cranberry crisp inks to fill in the image with a blender pen. Super easy. Cut out the circle with my Creative Memories circle cutter and added orange chalk to damper the bright white! 3 buttons. Patterned paper is Daisy D's and Kaleidoscope by MME. I hand wrote the sentiment and used my deco scissors to cut the bottom. Finlally I added orange glitter glue to the pollen dots for added sparkle.

Thanks for taking a peek.
