Wood Grain Paper Girls Challenge

Paper Girls Challenge #24
The new PG challenge is to use wood somehow on your layout. I used my SU woodgrain background stamp and created a few different patterned papers with it. This week's Monday Craft Madness #10 over at Scrapbook Steals was to use Sparkle and Shine.
I also used Scrapbook Steals Jade #6 Sketch to create this layout.

Polka Dot Card Pinspired Challenge #1

I made this card for Pinspired Challenges #1 Challenge.
I loved the brightly colored polka dots and the jelly beans on the cake so that's where I went with my card. You should come and join in the fun. I began by making a mask with circle punch outs and then sponged in different colored inks through the mask. I will try to get a tutorial on that soon. I hope my friend Erin likes her birthday card.

Vintage Challenge and Blog Give Away

I made this card for the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge which was to make a card in VINTAGE style. I'm not sure this card is exactly vintage but it's my interpretation. :)

I stamped the suitcase image from Paper Smooches "Get Outta Town" set on a book page and fussy cut it. I like the look it gives to the image. I then colored the cases with my prisma markers. I added texture by stamping a porcelain background stamp on the base paper. The patterned papers are from Basic Grey's Fact & Fiction collections.
Hope you're having a great weekend. Take care! Stay crafty.
PS
I will be doing a Give Away on my blog in a few days because wonder of all wonders I've reached 60,000 hits. I think that calls for a celebration, oh, that and the fact that it's gonna be my BIRTHDAY!

Take me to the Library

Here's my final entry into the Paper Girl's Challenge # 23 to use Ledger Paper. I also used my Geek Chic stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop for this page about my little and his escapades at the library. And big thanks to my friend Cristine who gave me the stamp set with the doodled arches. He loves going and crafting. Some day I'm sure he'll love the story just as much. He has major ants in his pants.

Eggplant Mozarella Melt

EGGPLANT MOZZARELLA MELT
image and recipe link fond at the above link.
Don't walk...RUN...to your nearest grocer and get yourself some eggplant to make this delicious, melty meal. It is heaven to the taste buds.
I used Costco's Pugliese Italian Bread for my base and some premium jarred pasta sauce (without any HFCS) and topped it with some mozzarella.
Everyone in my family loved it-from my little four year old guy all the way to my big hunky guy.
Go try this easy recipe for yourself.
YUM!

Rustic Wood LOVE Valentine's Day Card

ScrapbookSteals Monday Craft Madness #8 was to do something for Valentine's Day. I , of course, needed a card for my sweet honey. I thought using wood would make it a little more masculine. I also used RetroSketches #45 to start my card off right. :)

I used the Stampin' Up Headline Alpha for "LOVE" with Real Red ink. I then used my white Uniball Signo gel pen to doodle over the letters. Who needs Thickers, right?
Natural twine and a triple heart punch from Stampin' Up and I was done.
The patterned paper is from Basic Grey
Thanks to Scrapbook Steals and Retrosketches for some inspiration!

New Year's Eve and Family

We rang in the New Year at home, surrounded by our munchkins who stayed up later than I did as I wasn't feeling very well. We enjoyed Shirley Temples (a family tradition since I was a child) and dad's homemade nacho sauce. He really knows how to work with processed cheese ;).

Mostly, Trav and the kids played Skylanders. It's been pretty huge around our house since someone secretly bought it for our children even though mom said no and really dislikes console games because they're such time wasters...I mean come on...you could've learned to basket weave in the time it takes to beat a few levels, BUT I digress...I was an enjoyable evening.
My marriage ROCKS, seriously :).

The next day Travis' brother and his family arrived here from California (it was their second day and they actually came from Arizona that day) on their way to Virginia. A BIG move for their sweet family.

Sterling is holding his own in the losing hair department despite the fact that he's 5 years Travis' junior. This picture was his idea...for posterity you know.

The girls were so excited that it snowed being from CA and all. They really wanted to make snow angels but it's been so dry here all summer that there's no ground cover so they would be more like mud angels.

I Sure Can Pick 'Em
Paper Girls Challenge and Scrapbook Steals

I can't believe I actually scrapbooked!!! It's a back to school miracle. I used Scrapbook Steals
Jade #4 Sketch as my jumping off point for this layout and I used the Paper Girls Challenge #23 to use ledger paper in some way on my project. This is a layout about my friend Jennay and I. Our families went raspberry picking this summer and we spent WAY too much money on raspberries (like $40.00 because I misread the price of a bucket)...but we ate every last one and they were so yummy. So here's to you, Jen, my karaoke queen.

Whenever I see that meme about not being afraid to look stupid because nothing great will ever happen to you I always think of Jenn.

Kiwi Lane January Blog Hop
Hey there! Welcome to the Kiwi Lane Designs blog hop.
Make sure you start at the beginning at Kiwi Lane.
Have you heard about
KIWI LANE DESIGNS???
They make these great designer templates that you can use to add fun shapes and layers to any project.
I used their Abbey Road Mini Templates on my cards.
I love the ease of use and the way they add interest to my cards. It took me mere minutes to cut out all of these layers and I then used the other sides of the cut to make my next card. TWO FOR ONE!!!
You can ink the edges of your cuts to make them pop or you can leave them as is.

A random winner will be chosen from among the blog comments on each of your stops along the way. The prize is a $25 gift certificate to shop at the Kiwi Lane Store!!!
Now head on over to
Megan Klauer's blog
for the next amazing project.
If you want to own some of these amazing templates from Kiwi Lane
then head on over to the
SCRAPBOOK STEALS SITE
and check out the offerings.
Have a super happy day and don't forget to make some time to create.

Would you like fries with that shake?
It is snowing here again today and I'm inside where it's cozy and warm by the fire. Making cards and enjoying some down time with my little guy. I have a goal to make every child in our primary a personalized birthday card this year and I need to get going.

As soon as I got this stamp set "Perfect Match" from Sweet Stamp Shop I knew that I wanted to make THIS card with THIS sentiment. I mean how could I not?!? My friend, Jen McDermott is the one that first suggested it and I'm so grateful she did.

Neon Christmas
Paper Girls Challenge #22
Use NEON
and if you want a little extra challenge...
make it merry!

This is my first foray into using neon on a project. I wore enough of it in the 80's to last two lifetimes and I'm not going back there anytime soon. Hahaha. That being said I DO really like the way this card came together. Hope your day is shaping up to be quite awesome.
Have a crafty day.

Birthdays are the Best!
Hey there friends. How is the new year going for you? I know it's only going to get busier but I had a bit of time to craft today after the chores were done. I used Retro Sketches #44 for this card. I love how easy their sketches are to follow. My kiddos go back to school tomorrow and there are a bunch of dental cleanings will be taking care of but for now I want to wish one of my dearest friends a happy birthday. She's one special mama!
Have a super day.
