used some of the materials on the lo and the photo of the package was taken on the actual paper I scrapped it on.

The big 3 - 4!
So, my birthday has come and gone. Started out wonderfully with breakfast in bed made by two very special chitlins.
Dinner at Fuddruckers with the fam. I had a mushroom swiss burger and fries with cheddar cheese sauce. Travis got me the cutest card and made up reasons for the Milky Way and Almond Joy he gave me...like "I was outta this world" and "He's nuts for me". SO SWEET! Also got my favorite from Vicotoria's Secret...LOVE SPELL.
No birthday cake for me...I enjoyed frozen yogurt at LOVE frozen yogurt. Super yummy. I really enjoy their Taro flavor and their sugar free/fat free chocolate.
Tessa loved the glass tiles. It was a wonderful birthday. Also had a great time with the gals this weekend which included some much needed gab time and a personal footrub from Laurel!!!!

The first crosstitch of the New Year
I adore the lettering on this pattern. I found the pattern and a finished piece at the thrift store. I began stitching it up a couple of weeks ago and I am so pleased with how it came out. Someone very near and dear to my heart will be receiving this piece of me in a few days. I hope they love it! Have a great day.

Tessa's Bedroom Makeover
This is what Tess' room used to look like. I think she was posing for her dad or maybe she just hated her room...haahaha. My mom made those curtains but sadly they got sun faded :(...and they wouldn't fit on her new window anyway.
Here we are starting the process of removing everything. The walls are wallpaper board that had strips inbetween each board that had to be pulled off. Then we had to tape over each seam and sand and mud and sand...you get the idea. We then hooked up the handy dandy texture bucket to the air compressor and began to spray texture on the walls.
You hve to cover EVERYTHING!
In the meantime. I sanded off the handpainted flowers and dragonflies on her bedroom set (it was given to us by a wonderful woman at church and I was sad to see the designs go know that she paintd them BUT...).
Definitely needed some freshning up. I painted all of the furniture "Swiss Almond".
Here's the foot board before sanding.
All painted in my kitchen, because it's freezing OUT THERE! I used foam rollers and the paint goes on like buttah.
Let the painting begin. I choose this rich pink color by Valspar (thanks Lowe's for the coupon)
Decisions, decisions, I really didn't want to paint the room two colors after having done the boys room, BUT one gallon wasn't going to cut it on bare drywall, even on primed drywall. Luckily, I had this gallon of "Softened Green" by DutchBoy in the shed (used to be the color of our bathroom). It went together very nicely.
Painting is almost complete...touch ups on trim...used to be brown. Tessa loves her new curtains.
Bed is put back together and bookshelf is in place.
Here's the dresser before:
I painted it 10 years ago when Travis and I were just married.
And the after: See what a fresh coat of paint can do!!! I would like to get some fancy knobs for her to enjoy. I also painted the frame on the crossstich Rustoleum's Heirloom White, it used to be brown.

Here's the toybox her daddy made her with her doll house and Littlese Pet Shop playhouses. I painted the frame on the vintage "ABC" poster as well (thanks for that Mama) you can see how it looked originally in the "before" picture.
Still need to do something with the desk...but I'm all tuckered out. Tess is a crafter like her mom so we need storage!
A bit of paint and some major elbow grease has made for one HAPPY little girl. I'm sure many beautiful memories will be made in this room.Linkin' up to Li'l Luna's Linky Partay #7

Clay Pot Nativity Tutorial: Last Minute Gift

What you'll need to get started for 1 Nativity
2- Mini Clay Pots (Packs of 6 for 99 cents)
1- 1 11/16" x 5/8" Wooden "Boy Pieces" ($1.47 for 5)
2- 1/4" x 1 3/16" Wooden Ball Knobs ($1.47 for 4)
Skin Tone Acrylic Paint
Black Acrylic Paint for eyes
Various Acrylic Paint Colors depending on you preferances
3- 5" circles of fabric again depending on your preferances ( I buy 1/4 yard of each color= 32 or more fabric circles)
Spanish Moss or staw
1- Mini Clay Pot Saucer
Total Cost for 1 Nativity Under a dollar if you get your supplies 1/2 off at your crafting center
Begin by painting your pieces skin tone
Next Paint your pots their base color: I chose a tan color for Mary and only painted the rim a rust color for Joseph
and Joseph's like this
Mary's Headdress: Fold 1/3 of the fabric down
Attach to the top of her head with hot glue making sure the back of the circle of fabric is even with the bottom of the pot
Press the fabric forward like so
Josheph's Headdress: Fold 1/3 of the fabric circle down
Hot glue the fabric to his head
Push the back sides of the fabric forward around his neck and glue to the inside of neck
secure the knot to the nape of his neck with hot glue
Fold the bottom half of the fabric up over the baby
Fold the right side straight down to create a triangle
Repeat on the left side
Isn't it sweet?
Option: to finish the nativity you can add a bed of straw or spanish moss to a mini clay saucer (I was unable to find any at the local HL recently) for a manger. Have fun making these and I'd love to see them if you use this tutorial. Have a great day!
