Back To school

They're off! I can't believe how short this summer felt. Probably had something to do with spending 5 weeks on the road and in Pennsylvania. They were so excited to get back to school. They all came home yesterday saying what an awesome day they had had. I hope it stays that way. The little J-man and I are home by ourselves now. We'll have to have some pretty cool projects to do. They may involve paper :)

Poppin' Fresh Blossom

I am in love with the new set Simply Soft by Stampin' Up. I love to color images and it's perfect for that. I stamped the flower in Basic Black ink and then water colored it with regular water color cakes.

Hope you are having an amazing day. Three of my kiddos are off to their first day of school today!!

Crazy Hair Day: Splendid

I loved these types of school days when I was in school...gives you a chance to goof off and feel like school is a fun place. My kiddos loved it too, however, Tessa kept taming the crazy do I was trying to give her, THE BOYS had NO reservations!!
Without further ado...a peek at my hammy children.

I used Scrapbook Steals MWM Topaz Sketch #3 by Kristina Mackeen as my starting point. I printed 3x3 photos on a piece of 4x6 phot paper and just left the extra white at the bottom to make the pics look like polaroids.

I hand cut each of the hexagons from various papers. The stripes and floral are from the same sheet of Authentique Paper (Splendid). the graph paper is from The Girl's Paperie and the solid blue is Stampin' Up. I didn't want the glue to show through on the architectural trace so I just ran a few stitches here and there to hold them in place.

Here are my tags from Authentique's Splendid collection. I also added a few "Sprinkles" with Stampin' Up's Confetti stamp in Versamark. I distress inked the corner edges of my layout and called it a night...this layout was finished at 1:28am :).

I had these bright white foam Thickers from AC...to make them go along with the layout I just used a sponge and some ink to tint them. Then I stamped them with my Wood Grain background stamp from Stampin' Up.
Hope your day is splendid too!!!

Best & Beautiful: Authentique

I used Scrapbook Steals MCM sketch #44 as a jumping off point for this card. I love the bright blue of this paper from Authentique. It's so serene. I also love that they have coordinating quotes and word tags that go so well. I'm also entering this card in the Paper and Such Design Blog Sentiment Only Challenge. There's still time to join in!
Hope your weekend is a joyful one. School starts on Tuesday for my kiddos and I am planning a great big dinner for tomorrow night. One last hoorah!

Chuck Norris Approved Birthday

Those of you who are not aware of the Chuck Norris craze that has swept the galaxy for the past however many years you need to be enlightened.

CHUCK NORRIS DOESN'T DO PUSH UPS HE PUSHES THE EARTH DOWN!!!!

So, I needed to make a birthday card for a 19 year old young man-a young man who loves WWF wrestling and Chuck Norris...what to do? I searched online for an image I could use for his card and I really like the bold graphic of this one. Pulled out some trusty Authentique paper and alpha stickers and oila we had a serious masculine card going on here.
We missed out on his surprise party last night because we were at the temple but today Jakob is going bowling with the birthday boy! I made a iron-on transfer to go along with this card from another Chuck image.
Pic found HERE
Happy Birthday Bobster!!!

and just for fun...CHUCK NORRIS HAS A "DISLIKE" BUTTON ON HIS FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

Splish Splash: Stitching Challenge

August's CE challenge is to include stitching on your page. I had these super fun pictures of Aaron at the spray park and I knew exactly what I wanted to stitch up.

Polka Dot Paper: MME
Blue Paper: SU with Versamark stamp on it
Orange Chevron Paper: Sassafras Lass
Word Stickers: Making Memories
Arrow: Authentique with polka dot CB folder.
"Have a ball" sticker: Authentique

The flower tag and yellow tags are from WRMK. I put letter stickers on the tag and sponged over them with ink then peeled the letters off.

I punched holes all along the edges of the papers in three different sized handheld hole punches.
Hope your week has been scrappy!

Cheese Dome to Cloche

Yes, it's been done a million times before...but I wanted one too! I made this back in May but am finally getting around to posting it. Two thrifted pieces combined to make one lovely piece.

I spray painted both pieces with Heirloom white and then used E6000 to bind them together.

A few birdies and som spanish moss and it's totally chic!

I think that birdy wants out!
Have a great day. Don't forget give away at 15,000 hits!

Things with Wings

I saw a challenge at CDS Clearly inspired challenge to create a card that had something with wings. I have a million stamps that have wings...well, maybe not a million, but A LOT!
This card was a total blast to make. I stamped the butterfly image from Inkadinkado, water colored it and cut it in four. I then inked the edges and mounted it on black paper. Used some beautiful Authentique paper from their Blissful collection. It's da bomb!

Raised up the panels and ta-da a card perfect for any birthday!
PS I WILL be doing a GIVE AWAY when I reach 15,000 hits!!!!

Happily Ever After: Authentique

Good Morning! This card was super fun to make.

Just a sweet little card using Authentique's Splendid line of paper. The pearl centers are from Stampin' Up as well as the inks.

Embossed the white paper with a paisley embossing folder. The pink and blue stamped images are from Fiskars and the "happily ever after" is Inkadinkado.

Authentique Necklace

I woke up yesterday morning and I wanted to wear THESE SHOES to church. I scored them at Marshall's on our tax free weekend on CLEARANCE. I wanted my outfit to be hip and funky....afterall...I was teaching a class of 7-8 year olds for my first time. :)

I've had these plastic rings for ages I bought 10 (I know have a plan BEFORE you buy). I punched a hole at the top with my Crop-A-Dile. I then adhered the circle to my paper and cut it out with an xacto.

Next I grabbed a needle and thread and my Peapod twine. I poked evenly spaced holes and began to wrap the ring with twine. I would have liked the twine closer but that would have "cut" the paper out of the center. I then added Diamond Glaze to the center and little dabs around the outter rim to keep the twine in place.

Here's a shot of the back. Either way it's prety cool.

Hope your Monday is blessed.

Weddings, Weddings Everywhere!

Yesterday there were two weddings going on. I only made it to one reception...barely. I was rushing to a mini-hs reunion bbq. Next weekend I have another wedding and then another the following week. How exciting!

I made this card using a piece of paintable wall paper I had laying on my craft desk after a recent redo here at the house. I spritzed it with my Olive Vine and Frosty Nights glimmer mists and let it dry. I love how it came out. I stamped the rings, cut them out and added the sentiment to the tag. Butterfly papers and scallops are Authentique. Martha Stewart punches for butterflies. QuickCutz embossing folder on white. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Have a great day!

Lost N Found: Sticker Book

(Puffy fabric suns with shimmer)
I decided it was high time I do some purging of some scrappy stuff around this house. I mean I've had a relationship with all things crafty from the tender age of five and here is proof positive. While rummaging through hundreds of stickers I happened upon my ond kindergarten/first grade sticker book. My friends and I used to trade stickers. I remember my mom taking me on special trips to an actual sticker store...rolls upon rolls of stickers for me to choose from. I know money was tight and I never got to have one of those fancy schmancy Lisa Frank sticker books. No matter, this little gem has survived the ages.

I thought it would be fun to show you a sampling of the stickers I must've thought were THE AWESOMEST because I stuck them in here. Shiny, silver unicorns (my mom had a thing for unicorns and I guess it spread to me, thankfully I grew out of it: mom, not so much:).

I still think these ballerinas are really sweet.

Felty bears with LISA FRANK fingernail stickers

Oooo, sailor bears. Anyone have an interest in vintage early 80's stickers.
Back to the purge...my three older children are now making their very own sticker books and asking if their's will be "really old some day"

Have a super day!

Inspire

Had fun making up this square card with some Authentique and watercolors. I used the ruffled bloom from Stampendous and water colored it. I then added turquoise stickles to the center. I used the petite type square for "inspire" from Authentique's Wonder collection. The gingham paper is from their Blissful collection and the orange paper is from SU. The punch is EK. I inked it up with some SU pumpkin pie ink.

Hope y'all are having a great Saturday!

Cool Summer Fun

I wanted to make a layout that showcased our visit to this landmark custard shop in Meadville, PA. What's better than frozen custard on a hot summer day. They still use the original machines from the 1950's!! They have to supervised at all times when in use or they may blow up-true story. They have a license plate contest and we were not the first people from New Mexico to visit them. WOW! Cash only!

The letters are handcut from a 12x12 sheet. The paper is mostly Scenic Route
I used SS sketch#40 to jump start this layout.

Hey, guess what? It's "1952" gonna have to fix that :) Layered up some Scenic Route punch out arrows and ran the top one through my cuttlebug. Inked over it with Creamy Caramel ink.

"A little yummy for my tummy": Stampin up. Yellow Toile Frame MME

I knew I wouldn't have enough room to spell everyones' names out so I opted to use initials and then hand wrote the names at the top. The white dots are the extras from a package of AC Thickers and the washi tape is Martha Stewart.
Have a great day!
