Espanola, NM Scrapbook Steals Lilac #1

I haven't scrapbooked in such a darn long time. Life really took hold and drug me by the hair for a while. I loved having a sketch to go from. Scrapbook Steals Lilac #1

This was such a beautiful area to visit.

I used a lot of different papers from different lines. We R Travel Light was a main one though.

Good Friends are So Good To Have

There are some people that come into your life and just make it so much more special to be alive.
They brighten each day and help burdens feel light.
Having a friend that epitomizes this song is a true blessing.
Hope you're having a blessed day.
Watch it :).

Welcome to the Kiwi Lane April Blog Hop. I'm so happy to be joining this wonderful group of girls in using such fun tools. This weekend I'll be featuring the
Celebrate template set.
On this layout I used the pennant and the ticket stub templates that come with the kit. My son has a best friend that he is growing up with and I just love these "through the years" layouts. See how tiny they were and now they're getting so big. The templates are so easy to work with, just trace and cut. Little effort for lots of wow!

The second project I created using the balloon and wavy templates. I had this great sparkly paper and I knew it would be wonderful paired with the cute balloons. I added a little twine and washi and ended up with a perfect celebration card!

The blog hop will run through 11:59 PM MST on Sunday April 6TH. a random winner from ONE of the participating blogs (including the Kiwi Lane blog), will be given a $25 gift certificate to the Kiwi Lane Shop, for leaving a comment and will be announced on the Kiwi Lane blog on Thursday, April 10TH.
Have fun visiting all the stops along the way.

    Little Bird Hello Friend

Who is ready for winter to be over and for spring to arrive!?!?! This girl, right here is.
Trying to create things with spring on the brain is refreshing.
This bird from Purple Onion Designs is just the sweetest. The other stamps are from Stampin' Up except for the sentiment which is from Papertrey Ink.

    Keep Crafty out there!

    Gettin' a little scrappy!
Tessa and her good friend playing chess. These girls have amazing imaginations! They're always creating fairy worlds, playing with dolls or enjoying a board game. You won't ever hear them say they're bored.
I used some Studio Calico paper for the background and some WRMK for the strip.

A few thickers and some wood veneers and we're all done.
Hope you have a super week!

I will miss you my friend.

Karen was one of the best people who have ever come into my life. Her smile lit up a room like no other. I so enjoyed her perspective on many of life's challenges. She had suffered things I couldn't imagine, yet she was still happy and willing to serve the Lord.
She retired last year and was enjoying some well deserved relaxation time with her husband. We joked about all the projects she had to do that kept her from actually relaxing :).
Soon after though, they found a tumor in her brain and it was massive. It had to be operated on immediately. When I heard that news my heart just hurt in a way that it hasn't in a long time. The operation was performed and things seemed okay. Afterward, she was still her cheery self but her speech was sometimes incoherent. When we would visit it wasn't uncommon for her to repeat herself many times but she had an indomitable spirit and never stopped enjoying life.
Unfortunately, the tumor regrew and spread deeply into her brain. Recently Karen fell into a coma and this morning she left us to return home.
Working alongside Ms. Karen was something I will never forget. She made me want to be a better version of myself. I know she'll do that for those on the other side as well.
    LOVE YOU! MISS YOU!
(I'm so grateful to have scrapbooked this picture of the two of us).

    I Sure Can Pick 'Em

Paper Girls Challenge and Scrapbook Steals

I can't believe I actually scrapbooked!!! It's a back to school miracle. I used Scrapbook Steals
Jade #4 Sketch as my jumping off point for this layout and I used the Paper Girls Challenge #23 to use ledger paper in some way on my project. This is a layout about my friend Jennay and I. Our families went raspberry picking this summer and we spent WAY too much money on raspberries (like $40.00 because I misread the price of a bucket)...but we ate every last one and they were so yummy. So here's to you, Jen, my karaoke queen.

I am really happy with how it came out. Seriously in love with Basic Grey's Fact & Fiction collections.

I used OA Sprinklers to grunge it up a little

Whenever I see that meme about not being afraid to look stupid because nothing great will ever happen to you I always think of Jenn.
    Friends to the end babay!

I love coloring. So glad that I can keep doing it as an adult :)

Have you guys seen the Basic Grey Fact and Fictions collections? I am in adoration of them.
This stamp set is from Stampin' Up.
    Washi from DowntownTape.com
    Distress Ink from Tim Holtz
    Have a scrappy day!

    Birthdays are the Best!

Hey there friends. How is the new year going for you? I know it's only going to get busier but I had a bit of time to craft today after the chores were done. I used Retro Sketches #44 for this card. I love how easy their sketches are to follow. My kiddos go back to school tomorrow and there are a bunch of dental cleanings will be taking care of but for now I want to wish one of my dearest friends a happy birthday. She's one special mama!
    Have a super day.

    Faux Batik Birthday Card

One of my dearest friends celebrated her birthday last week.
She has a great blog. She's so crafty and does such amazing things with sewing and
canning and food!! I love her to pieces.
    You can visit her at
    Mi Espacio Favorito

I used the Faux Batik Technique that I did a tutorial for
    HERE
    to make this card.
I love the bright purples and yellows together!!
Hope you have a crafty day!

Pumpkin Pals Scrapbook Steals Coral #4

While going through pictures I came across this sweet one of Tess and her bestie, Rachel, at the pumpkin patch. I used my Sassafras kit I just picked up from the warehouse last weekend during the retreat. I know people say they have a hard time working with their papers but I adore them.

Happy to have a brand new Signo white gel pen to write with! No skipping. I love them.

Now, if anyone can tell me where to find Mr. Huey's in white I'd be in heaven because my homemade concoction just isn't doing the trick. I had to fill in most of these droplets with my pen.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Kids get today off for fall break and we're pounding T-posts to fence in our property.
    Stay crafty my friends.

    Sending Smiles Across The Miles

I used my Silhouette Sketch Pens to draw out the states and the sentiment. Have I told you lately how much I love my Silhouette?!?!?! I have such a super sweet friend that lives in Oklahoma and I wanted to send her a little lovin'. The hearts are placed roughly in our city locations.

I hope you are have a great day!

    Fun Friday Food-Cheetos

    Banana Frown
A few weeks back my kiddos had their friends over for a play date. Normally we don't have Cheetos or even chips in the house but these were left over from a boys camp out-perfect time to use them ;)

Here they all are lined up and ready to be devoured. Home made peanut butter and home made peach jam with a banana mouth, cucumber eyes and cheeto hair.
    Banana smile
This one even had a built in nose!

Ahhh, nothin' better than lunch by the sandbox.
Okay, you're outside...go ahead and play with your food.

    Getting Happy Mail

Is there anything better than getting something handmade in the mail?!?!? Well, maybe sloppy kisses and bear hugs from my kiddos and holding my husbands hand as we sit side by side on the couch....but seriously...this warms my heart.
    Thanks Kristy!!!

Always Stay Young At Heart: Ribbon and Washi tape flowers

I used Scrapbook Steals Amethyst #4 sketch by Kristy Lee for the basis of this layout. My daughter has a special friendship with this little girl. She's now growing her hair out so she and Caelan can match ;). They truly have such a wonderful time together.

Crate paper floral background. May Arts mustard grossgrain ribbon, and hand made washi tape flowers.

I used my Groovy Guava ink from SU to tint these pink Thickers a bit more coral.

Stamp on the tag using the Elements of Style stamp set in Wild Wasabi ink.

And thanks to my enabling friend, Erica, I have some new washi tape in my collection. I need to add the date to the journaling block but I can't, for the life of me, find my date stamp!!
    Have a great week.

    Adorkable:

Yes, we think we're all that...NOT! Jenn came over to take me out for my birthday and said we should take pictures like all the young girls do. Fish lips, pouty lips, cheeks sucked in. You know you've seen it before ;) So we're being tongue and cheek...literally!!

This layout was based on Scrapbook Steals Amethysty #3 Sketch by Melissa D. I strayed a bit but love it.
I thought the hangers would be cute because I was hangin' with my bestie.

American Crafts paper was perfect for the brightly colored clothes we were sporting.
The journaling will go in the pocket that says "a slice of the good life"

I pulled this title from a onsie I saw at my friend, Heidi's baby shower.

Do any of you ever have MAJOR issues with blogger letting you put things were YOU want to in a blog post? UGH! This is all over the place.
    Have a sweet day.
