Scrapbook Steals MCM Guest Sketcher

Hi there everyone. I just wanted to let you know about the Monday Card Madness sketch that's up over at Scrapbook Steals. I love to help out a girl in need so when Kristy said she was a tad overwhelmed I jumped at the chance. She asked me to fill in for her and create a sketch and some cards with the American Crafts Classic Collection inspired by literature. How do I live up to the gorgeousness of a Kristy Lee original?

Well I decided to do something a bit different and go with a kickstand card.

I also wanted to show how this kit is versatile and can go light or dark.

I love how shimmery the designs in this paper are. So hard to photograph but sooo pretty.

You're totally welcome to come play along. Just post a link to your card on the sketch blog post! Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great day!

Mojo Monday: Go My Boy

Using Kristy's sketch from Scrapbook Steals for this layout was a fun treat. I recently received a whole passle of my stuff from SS that my friend Erica picked up for me at their warehouse. So this layout has a lot of MME and Studio Calico in it :).

I printed out the yellow chevron paper from somewhere online and then cut it into a circle.
I also think I need to write my journaling in in red to make it stand out a bit more.

The cloud and sunburst stamps are MME

I used my little grungeboard bus from SS too!
This layout is all about how Jonah is having a hard time adjusting to his brothers and sister going off to school...I just love that he thought he could go with on the first day. Poor guy. I'll try to make up for his missing sibs.
Have a super day.

Hi There Foxy!

Hello there. I saw the new challenge on the CREATE blog to make a card with a fox image and off I went in search of a cute image to use. There isn't much to choose from online but I did find this cute li'l guy from dragonart.com.

Bot of these trims were found in the dollar bin at Michael's. I have such a hard time resisting that darn bin!!

American Crafts fabric thickers are a dream.

Here's a little close up of Foxy. I love the way the watercoloring came out. PLUS orange is my favorite color.
BIG NEWS!!! I also have a tutorial up on Authentique Paper's blog today on how to alter alpha letters to fit any project you may have. Go check it out!!!
Hope you have a super day. Make some time to create!
I'm also linking this card up to Cute Card Thursday's "anything goes" challenge #182.

Authentique Color Challenge #1

I am not usually a big color challenge gal. I love techniques and sketches :)...so this one made me think long and hard. I have quiet a few friends having babies in the coming months...one dear friend is only a few weeks away! She's my workout buddy...whatever will I do without her rockstar attitude.

Well, I just decided I needed to whip up some baby cards and have them ready for the big day (s).

All papers are Authentique
Pink: Uncommon
Yellow: Blissful
Blue: Journey

The stitching is stamped with a Technique Tuesday stamp set

I just love this ribbon trim. I purchased a yard of white. I can ink it any old color I want to :)

A little girl's dress card.

Those tiny button brads are just perfect for a card like this. I hand cut the scalops on the yellow sleeves.

Hope you've enjoyed this baby card fest. Head on over to the Authentique Paper Blog to partake in the challenge. Who doesn't love some free goodies!!! Have a super day.
Also, please go and like Authentique's Facebook Page for up to the minute details and to share projects.

Flashback Friday: Cutest Bat Girl EVER!

I Love the way thi layout came together. Sometimes it's good to go back(not THAT far back) and see what you still love. I love the mixture of papers here. That I cut them banner style. I also love the using clear buttons with patterned paper behind them...why haven't I done that in a while??!?
We're off to the State Fair today...I hope you have something fun planned too.
Whatever it is...have a super time doing what you're doing.

Thrifty Thursday #3: Ye Old Stereo Cabinet

Yep, she's getting a makeover. I snapped her up for $20.00 big ones and she's been hangin' out with some paisley for a while, but I think she really wants to go lighter :)
I hope to have all of her luscious curviness finished by next Thursday for the big reveal!!!!
UPDATE: Go HERE for the reveal.

And just in case that's not enough for ya cowpoke here's some thrifty threads my dear husband found last Saturday at our local SA to wear for a youth western carnival they were putting on. He was in charge of the three legged race.
Express Shirt: .25 cents
Boots: .50 cents thanks to a 2 for a 1.00 sale (they were a full size too big but he stuffed them)
he had the jeans, the hat and the neckerchief
OH THE BELT BUCKLE-my husband's crafty too. TOTALLY handmade-from start to finish from WOOD!!!
He cut out the oval, attached a contraption to the back so he could slide it onto his belt, drew the longhorn image on the wood and then burned it into the wood. He also knows how to fix clogged toilets! WHAT A MAN!
Have a super thrifty day!

MME Card Sketch #27: Teruffic!

A little pearl on his nose :)
Link to the My Minds Eye Blog to see the sketch and create along.
I had fun with this sketch. In order to play along you need to use 80% MME product.
The gingham and polka dots are from Lime Twist and the red toned papers are from Lost and Found Union Square.

This stamp set is from Stampin' Up. Called "Ruff Day". I masked the image and inked around him. I then watercolored with some distress inks.

I drew some little paw prints and covered them in Spica Glitter Pen :)

A bow to tie everything nicely together.
I hop YOU have a Ter-Ruff-ic DAY!

Jellys Galore: Topaz #7

I used a wonderful sketch by Charissa Miller at Scrapbook Steals to start of this layout!

I hand painted the jellyfish...at first I started out just painting them at the scallops and that just looked to uniform to me so I started painting in more jellies. I love how some turned out. I don't normally paint on my layouts ( I have a few times)...but I just really had no paper that would go with these gorgeous pictures from the Shedd Aquarium.

Rhinestone jellies added for flair.

I choose to keep living-keep creating-keep being who and what I am in honor of those who no longer can. I will never forget what happened on September 11th 10 years ago and I will always try to remember that living in this country is a privilege and a blessing.
Have a wonderful Sabbath day.

Twinery Peg People: Scrapbook Steals

What a happy day it was in the Buck household when the kiddos got home and saw what I had made for them to play with. I love my vintage little people, unfortunately, so did the dog. He chewed most of them to bits...we still love him though. Kristy over at Scrapbook Steals asked me if I would create a little something (non scrappy) with twine and the wheels started turning.

I found these little wooden peg people at Joann's. I painted on some faces (in hindsight I wish I would have used a sharpie for their eyes, they were difficult to get right).

Meet Ms. Pink, Mr. Green, Mrs. Lee, and Mr. Red

Mrs. Lee loves to relax in her recliner and play Words With Friends.

My daughter just informed me that these two are married...must be the 50's!! (teehee)

Time for a road trip...everybody in.

Their doggie loves going for rides too. Hopefuly, now that our doggie is no longer a puppy these peg people will have a long lasting play relationship with my kiddos.
Have a super day and make sure to head on over to ScrapbookSteals.com for their deal of the day which I'm sure is TWINE today. :) The new deal is posted at 9am MST each morning with a different deal being posted at 9pm that runs through the evening.

Thrifty Thursday #3: Ribbons Flowers Galore

I went to my local SA yesterday and found a bag FULL of ribbon flowers. This lot here was probably only a quarter of what was in the bag. I chose flowers that were mostly flat for scrapping and cardmaking. The two bigger flowers I'll probably use for hair clips :). I love my local thrift stores, they understand the value of a persons $. So, can you guess how much all of these beauties set me back???? (answer at the end of the post)

I love these colors together. I may have to incorporate them all into a project.

Golden wings, a dove, avacado and mustard laces!!!!

A giant bag of small roses

Pearls and pips and more ribbon!!!! I droppe a WHOLE $1.50 on the lot!!! Yessiree, I love a great deal.
