Albuquerque International Baloon Fiesta 2011

This is Betty Jean the largest butterfly hot air balloon and she's from Arizona.
It's that time of year again...when hot air balloons fill the New Mexico skies!!!
Darth Vader hails from Belgium.
If you ever get the chance to be here the first week of October you will not want to miss this event. It's such an awe inspiring sight.
The best part about the Fiesta is that you get to be RIGHT THERE with all of the balloons! There is no roped off arena...you, the visitor, are smack dab in the middle of all of the action!
There's such a fun atmosphere!
There are three bees, they're a family. So cute!
This was the first year that Jonah actually will remember seeing these sights.
This clown is from Brazil.
This year there were over FIVE HUNDRED balloons from around the globe. Amazing, isn't it?!?!
This was the last balloon that we saw inflated, his name is Mr. Z and is from right here in Albuquerque. Tessa really like it.
They also have night events called balloon glows which are beautiful and surreal in their own way. Hope your weekend was as fun filled as ours! Have a super day.
Here's a link that will take you to a directory of all the special shapes baloons.
