Silhouette Eggs

Ahhhhhhh, the Silhouette is an amazing piece of machinery. Happy Birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas to me ;). I got my Silhouette from Oh My Crafts for the BEST DEAL EVER!!! They always have coupon codes and are so nice.

This card came together so quickly and I think it's so cute. Used some Authentique Gathering for my background and Kraft cardstock. Also the dots are Authentique Delightful.

I hand drew and the x-actoed the grass. Have a super day!

Cherry Blossom Branch

We're headed to church today on Conference Sunday. One of the young girls I teach on Sundays is getting baptized. She spent the last five years in China where her dad works so I thought this stamp would be especially nice for her.
I tried to capture how sparkly this embossing powder is but it doesn't want to come through in pictures. It's called Desert Rain by Stamp A Mania
I used my water brush and ink pads to color the blossoms. The straight line is drawn with a SU watercolor crayon and then faded out to the white. The punch is Martha Stewart.
Hope your Sunday is super sweet.

My boy is 7!!!

My third born turned SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!! He is a constant source of laughter for our family and to be honest, he's probably gives me my biggest challenge in parenting. He's headstrong and tries to get away with doing the least amount of work possible. BUT he is also constantly loving and a wonderful playmate. He loves to snuggle with me and brings me wild flowers from his walk home from the bus stop. His imagination is enormous. I think he's kinda a class clown and definitely is excitable. He's a thinker and often comes to his own conclusions about things instead of just listening to the majority. Happy Birthday my boy.
Favorite Color: Red
Favorite Movie: Sharkboy and Lava Girl
Favorite Food: Eggs, Grits and Bacon (mixed together)
Favorite Book: Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham

Favorite Subject: Math
Favorite Thing to do with your family: play board games
Favorite Place to go: Samuri
Favorite Toy: Ninjago Dragon
Favorite Teacher: Ms. Adams (PE teacher)
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Jump on the trampoline
He really LOVES Nijago right now...I scored this set after Christmas for a fraction of the original cost.
Not my finest cake hour but this was Aaron's request: A "square" cake, no layers, with Ninjago spinners all over it.
Jay is ready for action-watch out candles. Aaron also requested pancakes for dinner but I don't have any pictures of that because Jonah decided to be a monkey and jump on the couch after being told not to and he earned this badge of honor for all his effort. Three hours in pediatric urgent care while some dear friends came over and watched our other three AND made Aaron's pancakes.
More on this later. Have a super day ;)

Super Sonic Drive In

Amethyst #5 sketch from Scrapbook Steals
We live in a small town about 25 minutes outside of a big city. Basically, our "town" consisted of a feed and supply store, a McDonald's (ugh), a Dairy Queen, a Smith's grocery store and a Walgreen's until they put a Walmart in a couple of years ago.
But now we're moving on up to the big leagues baby.
We are now driving through our very own SONIC! I don't drink much soda any more but once in a while I crave a cranberry or cherry limeade. I love their real fruit slushes too(a gazillion calories I'm sure). They used to have this drink called an "orange cool breeze" that was sprite with crushed pineapple and orange flavoring. It was awesome. I did try their "Chicago Dog" when I had a coupon and was pleasantly surprised!
You would not believe the lines that this place had the first month or so. Forget it! I'll only wait so long for a cherry limeade ;) I used some of my Shimmerz spritz over letter stickers to get the title. I did "Sonic" first and then "Super". While the letter stickers were in place I used the bullet tip of my red Zig marker to give it a splash look.  The cherry stamp is from the Sweet Stamp shop and I colored that with my Zigs too.
I used lots of different lines of paper on this layout. The car paper is from WRMK, the yellow number: Simple Stories, red and teal: DCWV, polka dot: The Paper Studio
I used my fiskars cloud punches as masks and then overlaid a wood grain cloud that I stamped with my Hero Arts set
Ruffled scallops made with my scalloped scissors. Best $2 ever spend 6 years ago ;) Have a super day and I hope you get yourself an ice cold beverage and some scrappy time.

Always Stay Young At Heart: Ribbon and Washi tape flowers

I used Scrapbook Steals Amethyst #4 sketch by Kristy Lee for the basis of this layout. My daughter has a special friendship with this little girl. She's now growing her hair out so she and Caelan can match ;). They truly have such a wonderful time together.

Crate paper floral background. May Arts mustard grossgrain ribbon, and hand made washi tape flowers.

I used my Groovy Guava ink from SU to tint these pink Thickers a bit more coral.

Stamp on the tag using the Elements of Style stamp set in Wild Wasabi ink.

And thanks to my enabling friend, Erica, I have some new washi tape in my collection. I need to add the date to the journaling block but I can't, for the life of me, find my date stamp!!
Have a great week.

Family History: What does it mean to you?

I have an old college friend that recently started a business helping people with their genealogy/family history. I love finding out facts about my ancestry, but sometimes it's really slow going and there are roadblocks that you can't seem to get past.
I don't know why I have such a hard time finding information on my grandfather-he was a world war II veteran and came from Germany. There don't seem to be many "Ziemers" out there. It's always Zimmer or Zimer or Zimmerman. I did have a friend help me find a ships register with his father's name and I found out he had a half sister. AMAZING stuff.
So if you're like me and need help or are just plain interested in your family history check out Eowyn's Blog
This is my Grandfather and Grandmother. I'd love to know who the other people are (well one is my Grandpa's brother Rudy)
Malachi 4:6 says
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Adorkable:

Yes, we think we're all that...NOT! Jenn came over to take me out for my birthday and said we should take pictures like all the young girls do. Fish lips, pouty lips, cheeks sucked in. You know you've seen it before ;) So we're being tongue and cheek...literally!!

This layout was based on Scrapbook Steals Amethysty #3 Sketch by Melissa D. I strayed a bit but love it.
I thought the hangers would be cute because I was hangin' with my bestie.

American Crafts paper was perfect for the brightly colored clothes we were sporting.
The journaling will go in the pocket that says "a slice of the good life"

I pulled this title from a onsie I saw at my friend, Heidi's baby shower.

Do any of you ever have MAJOR issues with blogger letting you put things were YOU want to in a blog post? UGH! This is all over the place.
Have a sweet day.

Bird's Nest Beaded Wire Necklace

I love these colors!

I wanted to make something really special for my friend for her birthday. I saw a pin on pinterest of these wire bird's nest necklaces and thought they were so pretty.  I chose different beads to represent her family members (I told her she was the blue bead and she said she liked that she was the biggest one and then I said that's because she's the boss ;)). Then I got to work building the nest. The pin is connected to a tutorial. You can find it here, Sarah Ortega's tut is so easy to follow!

Here's Tess modeling the finished necklace. She wants one of her very own. I think I can handle that request. Hope you enjoyed

Thrifty Thursday: Boutique Seashells and Birds

I have this basket of shells in the kids/guest bathroom. Not much to look at, eh?!! But then I saw this picture on Pinterest and a lightbulb went off. My shells could be special. Maybe not silver plated $130.00 special but close enough.

So I picked up a can of Chrome spray paint for $3.67 at WM and got to work.

The starfish doesn't have the sheen that the other shells have. I think it must be too porous or something. I have plans to make a shadow box with a bunch of these shells glued in it.

And then I remembered the birds I had bought some time ago at Salvation Army (one with a chipped beak) and decided chrome would be the perfect "color" for my birds.

What do you think?

Are they amazing or what!!???

Create Blog Challenge: Confetti Rainbow

This weeks challenge was to use confetti on your card.
I had so much fun making this card. I've had this idea in my head for a while...to do some pointalism styled cards with my paper scraps. I just dug into my color coordinated scrap bags and punched my little heart out. I thought a rainbow would be perfect for the upcoming St. Patrick's holiday...no pot o' gold here though :)

I also continued the theme by adding dots here and there with my bullet tip Zig markers. The cloud stamps are from Hero Arts/Studio Calico. They fit perfectly into the fiskars cloud punches. I hand drew the hillsides with grass sprouts and then used my x-acto to cut them out.
Today has been a really good day. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to make some time to create.

The one with Tess' baptism: Authentique Uncommon

I completed this layout on Saturday while I was scrappin' with my gal, Erica.

I used to make tissue paper flowers a lot for my layouts and then I don't know what happened...
it felt so fun to meake them again for this EMBELLISHED layout about my baby girl's baptism

She is one of the sweetest people I know. Sometimes she'll throw a tantrum but it's very rare. Most times, I just want to be like her ;)

I hope your Tuesday is fabulous!
